Football documentary Welcome to Wrexham took home five awards at the 2023 Creative Arts Emmys and Ryan Reynolds appeared in a thank you video dressed as Deadpool.

As reported by the BBC, a clip posted to Reynolds X/Twitter appears to be a heartfelt thank you video featuring Rob McElhenney — who stars in the documentary alongside Reynolds as the pair take over the small town Welsh football club — before none other than Deadpool appears with the award and dressed in a suit.

"Wow, an Emmy, what an incredible honour," McElhenney said. "There's so many people to thank. I've been waiting for this moment for 16 years so I've got a lot to say. I'd like to start by thanking..."

It's at this moment Reynolds, who plays Deadpoll in the trilogy of Marvel films, takes over in character. "First and foremost, Wrexham, we love you," he said. "Thank you for letting Rob and the other guy tell your story.

"Cymru am byth, b***hes," he added, Welsh for "Wales forever, b***hes". Reynolds then continued with plenty of more jokes, embodying the spirit of the anti-hero character. "I'd also like to thank The Academy for this honour, and for not asking us to attend the televised awards show with the real celebrities.

"I'd also like to thank FX and Disney for their support and in exchange, Mr Lively promises to not f**k up my next movie." This referred to Deadpool 3, which will star Reynolds and Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman when it premieres July 26, 2024.

"Lastly, The Oscars, you're on notice motherf**kers," Reynolds added. "Maybe we can get a token VFX nod next year. The amount of work on Hugh and Ryan's face alone is at least worth a nod."

Welcome to Wrexham won awards for Outstanding Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera), and Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program.

HBO's The Last of Us adaptation was the only show to take home more awards, earning eight at this year's Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony.

These awards included Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series (for Storm Reid), Outstanding Picture Editing For A Drama Series, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Main Title Design, Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, and Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series (for Nick Offerman).
