Lionel Messi has revealed an upcoming animated series aimed at kids called Messi and the Giants.
It’s a show inspired by the Argentina World Cup winner and current Inter Miami star player, and depicts a 12-year-old Messi “as he confronts various obstacles while traveling throughout a video game on a quest to go home”.
Messi unveiled a first look at the Messi in the show in an Instagram post that’s already had 4.5 million likes.
“Football is the only sport around the world that can inspire excitement and connection in the same way that storytelling does,” Sony Pictures Television - Kids’ Joe D’Ambrosia said, according to TheWrap.
“What makes this series special is that it focuses on the same principles of good sportsmanship... it’s about perseverance, resilience, teamwork and believing in yourself.”
That’s pretty much all we know for now. Messi and the Giants will be available in English, Spanish and “many other languages”. Meanwhile, Messi is set to star in an Apple TV+ documentary about his move to the U.S. in Messi Meets America.
Messi moved to Inter Miami and the MLS following his starring role in Argentina’s World Cup win. He was an instant hit, scoring 11 goals in 12 games, although he’s currently injured.
