The Lord of the Rings is filled with more than just the races of Man, Elves, Hobbits, Dwarves, and Orcs. The world is home to a myriad of other mystical species, many of them arguably more fantastic than the races the main story follows. From giant spider spirits that rivaled ancient dark lords to mysterious Lovecraftian horrors lurking below the depths and even dragons big enough to break mountains when they land, there is no shortage of the spectacular in Tolkien's masterwork. What's even more tantalizing to fans is how little information there is on these amazing races. However, one faction, in particular, has been the source of much guesswork about their future, if indeed they even have one: the Ents, the ancient tree-like people who came to the aid of the Hobbits during the second war against Sauron, and their leader, Treebeard.
