Valve has revealed its opening salvo of Steam sales set for the first months of 2024, ranging from its regular Spring Sale, to the less than regular Pirates vs. Ninja Fest, and a host of other money saving events.
The arrival of 2024 is an inevitable and unavoidable fact. I know it, you know it, and Steam definitely knows it. Thankfully, Valve has seen fit to announce all of the major sale events coming early next year, assumedly in an attempt to help gamers shore up their wallets for the oncoming storm, and developers prepare accordingly.
A full list of the sale events can be found below, courtesy of the Steam website, along with the relevant dates.
- Capitalism and Economy Fest: January 8 - 15
- Pirates vs. Ninjas Fest: January 22 - 29
- Next Fest: February 5 - 12
- Remote Play Together: February 12 - 19
- Dinos vs. Robots Fest: February 26 - March 4
- Spring Sale: March 14 - 21 (major seasonal sale)
- Deckbuilders Fest: March 25 - April 1
Naturally, some of the sales require a little more explanation than others. First up, the Capitalism and Economy Fest will have a clear focus on PC titles that are built around money grubbing economics, where the key goal is to make money in order to acquire even greater piles of the stuff. The Pirates vs. Ninjas sale on the other hand celebrates titles that put both pirates, and ninjas, front and centre. The same concept goes for the Dinos Vs. Robots Fest, which kicks off in late February.
February’s Remote Play Together event will promote games that make use of a Steam sharing feature that lets users invite friends to join a game session via remote play streaming, and experience a game with local multiplayer/co-op that they may not own. Next Fest, meanwhile, is an opportunity for players to explore game demos, and interact with developers.
The Spring sale is, well, a sale that takes place in the Spring-time, while Deckbuilders Fest is a celebration of titles whose game formula revolves around the use of cards. Steam recently marked its 20-year anniversary by putting many of the top games from each year on sale, and has started handing out special digital badges themed on the original site interface to accounts that have been there since it launched in September 2003.
