The Spiderwick Chronicles TV show adaptation has found a new home at Roku after being scrapped at Disney in August.

As reported by Deadline, Roku now has the exclusive U.S. rights to The Spiderwick Chronicles, with the eight episode series premiering in early 2024.

Disney shelved The Spiderwick Chronicles alongside Nautilus despite filming for both shows being completed. Creators Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television looked to sell the show elsewhere as a result, finding a home at Roku after around six weeks.

"It is an honour to bring The Spiderwick Chronicles, a spectacular adventure-filled story led by the incredible Christianu Slater and Joy Bryant, exclusively to The Roku Channel," Roku Media head of originals Brian Tannenbaum. "We cannot wait to introduce this exquisitely crafted series, imagined by a world-class creative team, to millions of streamers."

Paramount TV Studios president Nicole Clemens added: "We are elated that The Spiderwick Chronicles has found a new home and want to thank The Roku Channel for their passionate partnership. Our showrunner Aron Eli Coleite has crafted a beautiful series full of all the enchantment that made the books so beloved, and we can’t wait for audiences to meet these wonderful characters."

A previous live action adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles arrived in 2008 with a feature film led by Freddie Highmore.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
