Today at San Diego Comic-Con, we got a look at a brand new trailer for upcoming feature film Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, as well as a release date of October 17, 2023.
The film, which is the fourth animated Mortal Kombat movie, follows Johnny Cage's journey to become a famous actor in 1980s Hollywood. But of course, if you know Johnny Cage, nothing goes as he planned, and when his co-star disappears it kicks off a dangerous adventure.

Cage Match features a star-filled voice cast including Joel McHale as Johnny Cage, Gilbert Gottfried, Dusan Brown, Grey DeLisle, Robin Atkin Downes, Zehra Fazal, Kelly Hu, Matt Yang King, Phil LaMarr, Matthew Mercer, Armen Taylor, and Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey playing herself.
That said, that cast may have to do some heavy lifting, as the past three Mortal Kombat Legends direct-to-video films have been, well, less than amazing. Scorpion's Revenge and Snow Blind were both just okay per our reviews, and Battle of the Realms was an "overstuffed mess."
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match is available as a direct-to-video title via Amazon Prime, AppleTV, Google Play, and other services and is out on October 17, 2023.
