Apple is investing more in its Monsterverse TV series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, as the company confirmed that the show is getting a second season.

In a press release, Apple confirmed that the series will return for another season. What's more, the tech giant said that it has inked a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, which will include multiple spinoff shows based on the franchise.

"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' has left an indelible imprint on the hearts, minds, and imaginations of audiences around the world, led by the brilliance of Chris, Matt, Kurt, Wyatt, and the incredibly gifted and talented cast and creative team," Apple TV+ head of international development Morgan Wandell wrote in a press release. "We couldn't be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise as we expand Legendary's Monsterverse."

Announced over two years ago, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is the second TV series in the MonsterVerse, following the Netflix original series Kong: Skull Island. The series is set in two periods: one in 2015, a year after the events of the 2014 film Godzilla, and another set two generations earlier. The plot follows members of the Monarch organization as they encounter ancient monsters.

Prior to the show's premiere in November of last year, it gained attention after it was revealed that father-son duo Kurt and Whyatt Russell were cast to play the older and younger versions of Lee Shaw, a U.S. Army officer.

In our review of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, IGN wrote: "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters makes a stronger case for character-driven storytelling in Legendary's MonsterVerse than any of its big-screen outings."
