There's no arguing that Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons's Watchmen is one of the greatest pieces of literature not just in comics, but in all forms of writing. A story that tackles the American malaise of the late 1970s and early 1980s through the concepts of superheroes, vigilantes, and a murder mystery, the 12-issue series has been praised the world round, and with good reason. Moore is at the top of his game, and Gibbons's art is some of the best of his career.
