The X-Men are in a terrible place right now in Marvel Comics. Earth’s Mutants are currently scattered across the galaxy, and on Earth, any remaining Mutants are being hunted, imprisoned, tortured, and killed. The X-Men’s current predicament is largely thanks to years of planning by Orchis, the evil anti-Mutant organization that has launched both physical and propaganda-based attacks against Mutantkind. During this year’s Hellfire Gala, Orchis attacked and killed most of the new X-Men team and many of their allies, while blaming Mutants for the carnage. Orchis couldn't have enjoyed such great success, however, had the X-Men not made some incredibly costly mistakes and miscalculations beforehand. Now, the X-Men and Mutantkind are poised to repeat one of those terrible errors.
