Just when you thought it was safe to not spend money recklessly, Amazon went ahead and announced it's going to be running another sales event in October, this one called "Prime Big Deal Days." But no one will call it that outside of Amazon, so let's just call it Prime Day 2 for now, since that's what it basically is.
When Is Prime Day 2?
So far all we know is Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days is coming in October. However, Amazon ran a similar sale in 2022 called the Prime Early Access Sale, which ran October 11 and October 12. Expect to see a similar timeline for 2023's second Prime sales event. My guess is Prime Day 2 will start October 10 and run through October 11.
Is Prime Day 2 Only for Prime Members?
Yeah, that's how they get you. They entice you with all the great deals and then pull the rug out from under you if you're not a member of Amazon Prime. The good news is you don't have to be, at least not right away. If you've never had a Prime membership, you can always sign up for a 30-day trial ahead of Prime Big Deal Days and get yourself access to all the benefits.
Some returning customers may be eligible to get their first week for $1.99. You'll need to check Amazon's Prime landing page for full details.
If you're a college student with an active .edu email address, you can get 6 months of Prime for free, plus a ton of other savings with Prime Student. Seriously, that's the best deal going, so if you have a student email address, get on it.
Should I Wait Until Black Friday, or Buy Stuff on Prime Day 2?
This is such a tough question to answer because there's so much that's discounted during both events. If you see something at a great price, I'd recommend just buying it during Prime Big Deal Days rather than waiting. Amazon is pretty good about not undercutting itself on items so close to Black Friday. Basically, if something's 50% off during the Big Deal Days sale, it will probably be 50% off during Black Friday, too. Or it won't be on sale at all.
With the October Prime Day sales being so new, we don't have a lot of data to comb through and say for sure, but my experience has been you should be OK to buy as much as you want on Prime Big Deal Days and not have to worry about seeing it discounted further on Black Friday.
Will the UK and Australia Be Taking Part in Prime Day 2?
Yes indeed. In fact, according to Amazon, Prime Big Deal Days will happen in the following 19 countries:
"Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., and the UK."
How Will IGN be Covering Amazon Prime Big Deal Days?
