Netflix's Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series has received a brand-new trailer that shows off footage from the show, Ramona's seven evil exes, the cast, battles, Scott shredding on the guitar, and much more.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be released on November 17, 2023. While it takes after the comic book in its presentation, it features some heavy ties to the 2010 feature film, even going so far as to have the movie's actors reprise their various roles — no small feat given how popular Chris Evans and Brie Larson have become in the intervening years. Director Edgar Writer is also involved with the movie as an excutive producer.

The movie and the anime are both based on an independent comic book that first launched in 2004 and finished its run shortly before the release of the movie. It stars the titular character as a twenty-something slacker living in Toronto, Canada who finds himself embroiled in high-concept action battles with the seven evil exes of his crush, Ramona Flowers.
We wrote in our original review, "This is a film best suited for the wired generation and those of us who grew up on Nintendo and MTV. Its kinetic nature and quirky sensibilities might be a turnoff for some. The middle drags a bit and the ending isn't all I hoped it would be. It might be a bit limited, but I have no reservations about recommending it heartily."
Ultimately it's a charming coming-of-age story that combines elements of shonen anime with 2000s-era indie rock, and it retains a devoted fanbase to this day. We'll see if Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is able to carry on that tradition when it launches on Netflix on November 17.
