With Superman Legacy set to go into full production soon, director James Gunn posted the first full photo of the cast together, which includes an exciting first look at Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor for fans.
In the photo, we get a glimpse of Hoult with a shaved head, which in some ways is our first real look at Superman's iconic villain for fans. The photo also includes Nathan Fillion [Green Lantern], Isabela Merced, Rachel Brosnahan [Lois Lane], David Corenswet [Superman / Clark Kent], and several other notable faces.
Director James Gunn wrote in the photo's caption, "After the table read with the #Superman cast. Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day."
We've learned quite a bit about Superman Legacy's cast as the movie has moved closer to production. Among other things, we know that Batman won't be making an appearance in the film. We also know that Milly Alcock will be playing Supergirl, though it's unclear if she will appear in Superman Legacy, especially with Gunn lamenting "cameo porn" in superhero films. Elsewhere, fans have been speculating on the film's connections to Kingdom Come, a somewhat dark story that would seem to be at odds with Gunn's sunnier vision for Superman.
One way or another, Superman Legacy is expected to start filming in April, with production wrapping up around August. It is currently slated to release on July 11, 2025.
