The world of The Boys could soon be expanding once again. Variety reports that another The Boys spin-off is currently in development, with Mexico City expected to be the setting. The Spanish-language spin-off would be Amazon's latest attempt to create a local language of one of Prime Video's popular properties, joining the likes of Citadel and Comicstaan.
According to the report, Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is attached to write the new spin-off. Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal would also potentially be involved as executive producers.
Amazon declined to comment.
Assuming it movies forward, the untitled spin-off would join Gen V and animated series The Boys: Diabolical as the latest entry in the burgeoning The Boys universe. The franchise has proven immensely popular, with Gen V received high marks for its depiction of "contemporaray teen sex comedies, ruthless The Boys tomfoolery, and ambitious shock-and-awe excellence that fans deserve."
The flagship show based on the comic book series of the same name launched back in 2019, with the fourth season slated to release in 2024. Show creator Erik Kripke is reportedly involved in the upcoming spin-off as an executive producer. Not much else is known at this time, with exact plot details remaining firmly under ways.
