The horror genre is one of the largest and most diverse parts of the entertainment world, whether theater, film, or literature. Several subgenres, tropes, and many other pieces combine to create a horror-centric subculture in society. It's also one of the oldest, with the movie widely considered the first horror film, Le Manoir du Diable, or "The House of the Devil," dropped in 1896 while cinema was barely in its infancy. Of course, with the decades past, things change, and certain things that are revered now could've remained underrated for eras.
