Wilson Bethel is reprising his role as Bullseye in the upcoming Disney+ MCU series Daredevil: Born Again.
As reported by ComicBook.com and confirmed by Deadline, Daredevil: Born Again has added another familiar face to its cast. Bethel, known for playing Bullseye (aka Benjamin Poindexter) on Netflix's Daredevil series, is said to be returning to his villainous role for the new MCU series, starring opposite Charlie Cox's titular hero.
Bethel stepped out as Bullseye in season three of Netflix's Daredevil, appearing in 11 of 13 episodes, but he hasn't starred in the role since. The actor will apparently be in three episodes of the new series, per Deadline, and in good company alongside Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher.
Season 3 of Daredevil not only introduced Bullseye to the Netflix MCU shows but recreated the character from the ground up with a compelling and tragic origin, giving him a sense of substance that had been largely absent since his debut in 1976's Daredevil #131, but it's unknown how his story will develop from here on out.
Cox previously confirmed Daredevil: Born Again will not continue the Netflix series, telling IGN, "I don't think it means we're going to tell the Frank Miller story of Born Again in the comics. I don't think it means that. I think it's — you know we made the [Netflix] show, it ended, years passed, and we're making another show."
However, a Marvel executive recently confirmed that the original Daredevil series, which ran from 2015 to 2018, is now considered MCU canon. This revelation came shortly after Daredevil: Born Again was put on hold pending a "creative reboot," and a new showrunner stepped in to lead the charge on the overhauled series.
Disney declined IGN's request for comment.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently slated as part of the MCU's Phase 5, but it does not have a firm release date yet.
