DC Comics doesn't have the same event cycle Marvel has, but that doesn't mean the publisher doesn't like event books. Event comics are a huge part of the modern comic industry and DC has definitely cashed in on that. DC events often use long-term builds that run through multiple titles. It would stand to reason that most DC events don't need prequels, but that's not the case.
