Fans of fantasy role-playing games have been eating quite well for the last few weeks, especially since Baldur's Gate III officially made its debut on the PlayStation 5, showing off its incredible scope while also being an excellent port. It can be hard to remember that fantasy games were relatively niche for a while, often relegated to older role-playing games as sci-fi and first-person shooters took over the market in the earlier days of console gaming. Much of the love for the genre was primarily focused on the PC. As a result, games like Fable only made a relatively small splash when up against juggernauts like Halo and Call of Duty.
