Illumination's Super Mario Bros. Movie was a huge success, topping $1 billion at the box office. However, 30 years ago, a live-action Super Mario Bros. was released, only to be savaged by critics and bomb in the theaters. Since then, the movie has gained a loyal, and not entirely ironic, cult following.
