Long lines are easily the worst part of any theme park experience. So it’s no wonder that theme parks have found ways to make loads of cash off park-goers who just want to skip the lines — it can be a drag. But now, Roblox players are leaning into the experience of waiting in line at theme parks. In a new trend on TikTok, users share clips of them playing Universal Roblox Theme Park, which amounts to waiting in virtual lines inside the game.
Roblox is a platform that allows its users to play, share, and make games. It’s filled with loads of promotional games for various brands, including Universal Roblox Theme Park. In the game, players can explore a virtual recreation of the Universal Parks. It isn’t the most detailed recreation — certain park areas have been renamed, like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter being called the “Wizarding Village,” possibly for licensing reasons — but it does remake certain aspects of the park experience. Mainly, you can go on some of the biggest rides, check out the wait time, wait, and then “ride” a first-person Roblox remake of the attraction.
Instead of showing gameplay of the coasters, players are sharing videos about standing in the virtual lines.
TikTok user Mandee shared a video showing a line for the virtual Spider-Man ride based on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride. In the clip, you can see a bunch of avatars in a long line that snakes around metal guardrails. Text over the clip says, “how many aura points do i lose for waiting 20 min to go on the new spiderman ride at universal roblox.”
Mandee also shared clips of waiting in line to go on the Jurassic Kingdom River Adventure ride.
Another user shared a similar video whisks viewers off to The Mummy ride. Or, the line. In it, you can see the avatars lined up and the text layered over the video says, “i am really 18 years old waiting in line to ride the roblox universal mummy ride.”
The funniest part of this all is that waiting in line is entirely optional. Once you queue, the game pulls up a button that allows you to skip the wait and just go on the attraction. It’s a virtual world, so everyone can ride it at the same time if they want to. But hey, that would ruin the immersion of the experience, since everybody knows waiting in line is an inescapable part of any theme park.
