Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day 2023 has been officially announced, and it will start on October 10 and end at the end of the day on October 11. Last year it was the Prime Early Access Sale, this year it's the Big Deal Days. In reality, we're all going to end up calling it Prime Day 2 again, and everyone is going to be wondering what really is a 'Big Deal Day'? We'll attempt to answer some of that here for the uninitiated deal hunters, but for the well-versed, let it be known that we've got yet another Prime Day to look forward to before the Black Friday sales hit once again.

Everything We Know About Amazon Prime Day 2

What is Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2023?

Just like last year, Prime Day 2 has some other official title that's going to make googling the event an absolute pain. Amazon is calling its new-new sales event 'Big Deal Days', and it will kick off in October, around a month before the Black Friday sales are expected to start.

Big Deal Days is currently poised to deliver Black Friday-esque bargains during a 48-hour flash sale, exclusively accessible to Amazon Prime members. This event is being billed as an early opportunity to Black Friday deals, (slated for November 24 this year).

While not formally designated as Prime Day 2, unofficially, it essentially is. The vibes bear a striking resemblance to Prime Day, leaving one to draw their own conclusions. Personally, I'll be approaching this sale in much the same way as I would Prime Day, and I anticipate many others will too.

When is the Prime Early Access Sale Starting?

The Prime Big Deal Days sale, or Prime Day 2 as many will be calling it, will start on October 10 at 12 AM PDT time, and end on October 11 at 11:59 PM.

Prime Day 2 and Black Friday: What's The Difference?

Black Friday itself is becoming increasingly complex, let alone introducing another pre-sale event into the mix. One of the primary concerns consumers often have during the Black Friday season is the fear of purchasing something only to discover it at a significantly lower price before the season concludes.

Introducing another Amazon event doesn't necessarily alleviate this concern. However, there is a potential for Amazon to address this issue by offering a Black Friday price guarantee on select major items, such as Fire TV Sticks or Echo smart speakers, for instance.

In essence, Black Friday doesn't differ substantially from Prime Day events, except for the fact that Prime Day sales are exclusively accessible to Prime members, whereas Black Friday deals are generally open to everyone. Aside from this distinction, the deals on offer are typically quite similar, with each event featuring a few additional discounts here and there.

Early Prime Big Deal Days Deals

Early deals for Big Deal Days, now that's a tongue twister. There's not loads to check out just yet, but it's here if you're interested. Right now Prime members can get 4-months of Amazon Music Unlimited. This deal is pretty customerary for sale events like this, so we're expecting it to last throughout Prime Day 2 and Black Friday as well.

Prime members can also get an extra $15 Amazon credit when they download the Amazon Photos app and upload their first photo (available through to October 7). Grubhub also has a new offer for Prime members, and you can get $5 off when you spend $25 or more with code “PRIME5” right now.

Reminder: You'll Need to Be a Prime Member

This all sounds great, but you might also be wondering: How much is a Prime membership? For US-based customers, Amazon Prime is $14.99 per month or $139 per year (£7.99/month or £89 in the UK). There's a 30-day free trial, and students can also get a 6-month trial and Prime at 50% off ($7.49/month) after their trial period ends.

You'll need to be a Prime member to take part in Prime Day 2023, but that 30-day trial should cover you for the whole shopping event, alongside any other deals that pop up beforehand. Plus, if you don't want to pay for Prime, you don't have to, just remember to turn off auto-renewal as well.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day stands as Amazon's semi-annual exclusive deal extravaganza, catering solely to Prime members. Traditionally, it showcases enticing offers from renowned brands and consistently draws significant attention to the online retail giant. This grand retail event made its debut on July 15, 2015, marking a celebratory gesture to honor Prime members on Amazon's 20th anniversary. It has persisted ever since, with its duration expanding to a full 48-hour spectacle in 2019.

The genesis of Amazon Prime Day 2 originated as a rumor in the lead-up to Prime Day 2022, circulating in June and July. Speculation hinted at Amazon's intention to host a second Prime Day event, a notion that appeared to gain credibility through reports from multiple sources. This forecast materialized, albeit with the event being christened as the Prime Early Access Sale, and now the Prime Big Deal Days event instead.

Is Amazon Prime Worth It in 2023?

Subscription services like Amazon Prime are absolutely down to personal preference, but Prime does come with a whole host of benefits if you do think it's worth it. There are obviously Prime Day deals to take advantage of, alongside increasingly quick same-day to 2-day delivery times, and then there's access to Prime Video and Amazon Music services.

Prime Video is a streaming service challenging the likes of Netflix, HBO, and Disney+, and includes plenty of incredible TV shows and films to check out including Good Omens, The Rings of Power, Gen V, The Boys, Jack Ryan, The Wheel of Time, The Expanse, and Reacher.

But, it's all up to you, $14.99 a month is a lot of money at the end of the year, and you'll definitely want to feel like you've gotten the most out of it. If you want any more updates on Prime Day 2, make sure to follow @IGNDeals on Twitter.
