The Boys is getting a prequel series called Vought Rising starring characters Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Announced during a San Diego Comic-Con 2024 panel attended by IGN, Vought Rising will see Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprise their roles from Prime Video’s smash hit series, with The Boys executive producer Paul Grellong in place as showrunner.
Introducing the next deranged entry into the world of The Boys: VOUGHT RISING, starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. Set in the 1950s, exploring the early exploits of Soldier Boy and a supe you know as Stormfront. Only advice for now is keep your hands off the f*cking shield. pic.twitter.com/7jdqxz5Ang

Ackles announced Vought Rising on-stage, and said the producers are currently writing the scripts. Vought Rising is described as a lurid prequel set in the 1950s about the humble beginnings of monstrous corporation Vought. Cash then appeared via a recorded video to announce her involvement, and to say she’s read the scripts. “We’ve got everything from Judy Garland to Paul McCartney,” she said.
Meanwhile, during the same SDCC panel, Prime Video showed a new Gen V Season 2 teaser trailer that featured Chace Crawford as The Deep, confirming The Seven supervillain’s appearance in the spin-off.
The teaser trailer was narrated by actor Hamish Linklater, who said: "With God’s grace, good will conquer evil. Godolkin University is where you can join the fight." The trailer ended with the reveal that it's a recruitment video, with Linklater surrounded by students. He said to the camera: "Join us this fall and become the hero our world so desperately needs."
The Boys just wrapped up its Season 4 finale (complete with accompanying warning from Amazon). Season 5, which does not have a release date, will be its last. During the SDCC panel, showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed Soldier Boy will be a regular in Season 5, which won't come as much of a surprise to anyone who's up to date. "So he’s back," Kripke said. "The motherf***er is back."
Other The Boys spinoffs include the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the upcoming The Boys: Mexico.
