The Dark Knight Trilogy remains the gold standard of superhero movies. There are multiple reasons for this - the cinematography, the direction, the cast, the scripts, the designs, and so much more. However, the characters are what really makes the whole thing sing, and even among them, Heath Ledger's Joker is a standout. No one actually expected Ledger to make a good Joker.
