For Amazon's October Prime Day, you can get a 55" LG Evo C2 4K OLED Smart TV for only $1096.99. That's $400 off the original retail price and $100 less than the previous lowest price we've ever seen. Even though the LG C2 is a 2022 model, it is still one of the best gaming TVs you can get right now.

55" LG Evo C2 4K OLED Gaming TV for $1096.99

The C2 is the 2022 release of LG's best selling C-series OLED TV lineup. Currently it's a much better value than the C3 because it offers nearly identical image quality for hundreds of dollars less. The C2 uses the same "Evo" OLED panel as the C3, which is brighter than the previous generation LG OLED TVs.

If money isn't an object, OLED TVs are considered the best TVs you can buy right now. Compared to traditional LED LCD TVs, they offer better image quality, deeper blacks, better contrast ratio, wider color gamut, and super fast response times. Because of these advantages, OLED TVs are the best at displaying HDR content in all of its glory, better than any non-OLED TV.

OLED technology aside, the LG C2 has all the features you'd want in a gaming TV as well. It has a native 120Hz panel and four HDMI 2.1 ports for running 4K at 120Hz on a PS5 or Xbox Series X gaming console. It also supports variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM).

A lesser upgrade of the C2 and C3 models is the lower weight. The C2's rear cabinet is made of a new carbon fiber-like composite that drops the weight to a mere 31 pounds without the stand. It's even possible for one person to mount the TV alone, and a piece of cake for two people.

55" LG B2 4K OLED Gaming TV for $846.99

If the LG Evo C2 is still priced above your budget, then consider the 55" LG B2 4K OLED Smart TV, which has dropped to only $846.99 for Amazon Prime Day. This is $50 less than the previous lowest price we've seen. The B2 doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the C2, but it still makes for an amazing TV for current-gen 4K HDR gaming. The B2 uses a very similar WOLED panel found on the previous generation C1, which means it doesn't have the brighter "Evo" panel. Although it has a native 120Hz refresh rate for running 4K @ 120Hz on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, it has only two HDMI 2.1 ports instead of four.

The other differences are relatively trivial. The B2 has an older a7 processor compared to the C2's a9 processor and the B2 doesn't have the carbon fiber composite cabinet, so it's about 15 pounds heavier.

Should I get the new 2023 C3 model?

The new C3 is extremely similar to the C2. Image quality is nearly identical. The biggest difference between the two is that the C3 now supports DTS format, which would be useful for people who own a large collection of Blu-ray or DVD movies and don't use a separate AV receiver. Even then, it's still not worth the price difference. Right now a 55" LG Evo C3 TV costs $1400. I'd recommend saving that $300.
