Remedy Entertainment is celebrating the first anniversary of Alan Wake 2 with a new update that’s heavy on accessibility features. The “Anniversary Update” is coming Oct. 22 to PC and consoles, delivering a new menu that serves up an assortment of gameplay toggles that can make it easier to get through the game, either as a first-time player or someone who’s looking to speed through a second playthrough. Not to mention, the game is pretty scary at times, so some of these options can make it feel less stressful to play.

Here’s the full list of options:

  • Quick turn
  • Auto complete QTE
  • Button tapping to single tap
  • Weapon charging with taps
  • Healing items with taps
  • Lightshifter with taps
  • Player invulnerability
  • Player immortality
  • One shot kill
  • Infinite ammo
  • Infinite flashlight batteries

In addition, on PS5 the game will support gyroscopic aiming with the DualSense controller, and the controller’s haptics will now rumble upon using healing items and throwables, whereas previously they only worked with firing weapons. Across all platforms, Remedy has also added the ability to invert the X (horizontal) axis for mouse and controller (Y axis inversion is already available).

The game’s anniversary aside, the update comes just before the debut of Alan Wake 2’s final piece of story DLC, The Lake House. It’s also here in time for the incoming PS5 Pro update that’ll make the game look better (and, presumably, run better, too). If you’re looking for a deal on the title, you’ll only find one on the Epic Games Store for Windows PC, where it’s 50% off through Halloween.
