Chainsaw Man features a wacky cast of antihero misfits who subvert common shonen cliches and tropes on a regular basis. No one in Chainsaw Man is who shonen fans expect them to be; still, characters like Denji, Power, and their ally Aki Hayakawa fit broader shonen archetypes on a deeper level. This is why fans can still relate to them, no matter how subversive they are. It also makes comparing Chainsaw Man characters like Aki to the heroes in other series much easier.
