A datamine of mobile game Pokémon Go has confirmed The Pokémon Company will host a Pokémon Presents event in February 2025.
Established dataminer @mattyoukhana_ revealed on X/Twitter that the Pokémon Go code now references an event connected with what's being called Pokémon Presents 2025. Further text reveals it will take place on Pokémon Day, as expected, meaning February 27.
It's currently unclear when the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal will happen but it appears to be very soon given accessory maker Genki is currently showing off a mockup at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025. It's confirmed to be revealed before the end of March 2025 too.
An announcement ahead of Pokémon Day would certainly make sense, however, as it would allow The Pokémon Company to discuss its next big game during the Pokémon Presents. The February 27 event is the biggest on Pokémon fans' calendar and in the last few years has seen the likes of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and Pokémon Legends Z-A announced.
This latter game, the next big release coming sometime in 2025, is therefore practically a shoe in for the upcoming event, and is increasingly likely to appear on Nintendo Switch 2 given how little The Pokémon Company has said about it so far.
Pokémon Presents events typically last around 30 minutes and feature big announcements like these alongside myriad on the rest of the Pokémon world. This includes games such as Pokémon TCG Pocket and, as is already known, Pokémon Go, but reveals for the anime, actual card game, and other products are common too.

A Japanese man apprehended in January for modifying and selling Nintendo Switch consoles was found guilty by a Kochi District Court on April 14. He has been given three years probation on a two-year prison sentence and a fine of 500,000 yen (around $3,500 USD), making him the first person in Japan to be arrested and punished for modding and selling a Nintendo Switch.

The convicted man, identified as 58-year-old transportation businessman Fumihiro Otobe, was implicated in violating Nintendo’s trademark rights for soldering modchips to secondhand Switch motherboards and peddling them online for roughly $195 USD. The modified consoles are reported to have been bundled with 27 pirated games, but it’s unclear how many devices Otobe sold before being caught.

Why Otobe was charged under the Trademark Act rather than the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, a law passed in 2019 that, in part, targets the modifying and hacking of video game consoles, was not explained. Usada Pekora, one of the biggest Vtubers in the world, was recently forced to delist a stream archive under suspicions of playing a hacked Pokémon Emerald cartridge because of the potential of running afoul of the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.

Otobe’s case also brings to mind Gary Bowser, a 53-year-old Canadian national who was arrested in the Dominican Republic in October 2020 for developing and selling jailbreaking devices for video game consoles, most notably the Nintendo Switch, as part of piracy group Team Xecuter. Bowser’s punishment, however, was especially harsh compared to Otobe’s: he faced three years in prison before being released in 2023 for good behavior and still owes Nintendo millions of dollars, fines that will likely be garnished from his income for the rest of his life.

Nintendo thanked the various United States law enforcement agencies that assisted in Bowser’s arrest at the time of his conviction in a somewhat melodramatic press release that read, “Nintendo appreciates the hard work and tireless efforts of federal prosecutors and law enforcement agencies to curb illegal activities on a global scale that cause serious harm to Nintendo and the video game industry.” A similar victory lap-style statement has yet to be published in response to Otobe’s sentencing.

The creative leads behind the next live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie have just made the bravest artistic decision possible: They gave Shadow the Hedgehog his gun back.

Directed by Jeff Fowler and distributed by Paramount Pictures, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the third movie in a series of live-action feature films that adapt the video game series created by Sega. Previous films have focused on Sonic himself or friends like Knuckles, but this time around, all eyes are on Sonic’s rival, Shadow, who will be voiced by Keanu Reeves. Paramount released a new trailer for the movie on Monday, and the new look had plenty of nuggets for fans to chew on — Sonic gets to go to a Chao-themed attraction, for example. But for me, I was obsessed with the a moment where Shadow picks up a gun.

The image of Shadow using a gun refers to an odd era of the Sonic series. In 2005, Sega released a spinoff game called Shadow the Hedgehog where the development team explored a darker, edgier side to the Sonic series. Shadow appeared on the cover with a scoped gun and the game contained third-person shooting gameplay. According to Jason Griffith, a voice actor who played Shadow in the game, the development team was planning to create an M-rated game and had him record alternate lines where Shadow dropped the F-bomb, although these did not make it to the final cut of the game.

“They had me record two takes for every line, and I swear, the version that was for the M-Rating, they had me say fuck in every single line.” Griffith said in an interview to Inverse, “It was just every sentence, I would be yelling ‘Sonic, give me that fucking Chaos Emerald!”

Since then, Sega has walked back the darker side of Shadow and the series as a whole. Most notably, the recent Sonic x Shadow Generations game, which contains gameplay from Shadow the Hedgehog, didn’t have any guns and most certainly did not have any cursing. When asked about why Shadow doesn’t wield firearms, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka told Video Games Chronicle that while Shadow will use a gun, he doesn’t need one since Shadow himself “is a weapon.”

I agree that Shadow doesn’t need a gun — in the lore he was created in a lab to be the ultimate weapon — but he sure does look a hell of a villain with one, and some fans even celebrated the return of the gun. Although the game series as a whole has drifted away from this more mature side of the Sonic series, it’s fun to see pop up again in a movie.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is coming out to theaters on Dec. 30.

Mario Kart World is the first new home console Mario Kart game in a decade. We went hands-on with this Nintendo Switch 2 launch title and played a ton of it across several different modes, so let’s break it all down!

Mario Kart World is the first new home console Mario Kart game in a decade. We went hands-on with this Nintendo Switch 2 launch title and played a ton of it across several different modes, so let’s break it all down!

The Massively Interconnected Open World

Mario Kart’s biggest new addition centers around a huge, new Forza Horizon-style world filled with tons of courses to race against friends and enemies on. Instead of just having a series of tracks you select from a menu (although you’ll have that option too) Mario Kart World features a massive playground you can explore at your own pace on your own or with friends. You use this place to cruise around for fun or launch into races, Grand Prix tournaments, and more. It’s also packed with collectibles and hidden secrets and areas, and while we don’t know just yet what the rewards will be for finding things hidden throughout this world, we’re hoping it’s stuff like karts or costumes, or that you’ll be able to spend coins in some kind of shop for cool cosmetic stuff. Poking around here between races led me to what looked like a strange Peach-themed coin, stacks of smaller, regular coins, a huge evil cloud, a ton of grind rails to practice on, hidden back alleys and pathways, and so much more. It’s grand, utterly gorgeous, and incredibly smooth. We got used to how great Mario Kart 8 looked, but this one is even prettier and more stylish, with better draw distance, more detailed characters and environments, and generally just a ton of stuff happening at once.

Mechanically, everything felt really tight and satisfying so even if there isn’t a ton of reward for exploring it’s still really fun to explore. But knowing Nintendo, they’ll definitely be reasons to poke around here. In general, the gameplay feels like a slightly tighter and more forgiving version of Mario Kart 8, so if you spent a ton of time there you’ll feel right at home here. When your kart gets smashed by an item or another player, your recovery time is snappier and you’re back in the competition quicker than in previous Mario Kart games. When an opponent cuts you off and steals an item box right before you can get to it, don’t stress it because they respawn almost immediately, giving you a chance for instant green shell vengeance. Gliders have been replaced with planes, underwater sections have been replaced with Wave Race-like boating areas, and you don’t customize your kart anymore, at least in the version I played. There were a lot of preset kart options to start with and presumably many more to unlock, though, so it seems like having lots of ways to show off your kart or character won’t be limited.

Characters, Costumes, and Crazy New Power-Ups

You can play Mario Kart World with up to 24 human players at the same time and there are tons of returning characters from the Mario series, although none from other Nintendo games like Mario Kart 8 had. It’s safe to say that Mario Kart World will be THE Mario Kart game for years to come, though, so who knows which characters from other series will show up here eventually. My favorite new character was Cow from Moo Moo Meadows, who is here to get revenge for all the times you drove into his family on the N64, probably. Most characters have different costumed versions you can choose from the character select screen, but where things get a bit more complicated is that you can also change their costume mid-race by finding certain power-ups that appear to alter your stats. Lots of these items are food-based so you’ll get to see Cow eat a burger. Look, it’s his first time driving a kart and it’s crazy out there. Go easy on him.

We also noticed a bunch of characters that appear as racers against you but you can’t choose yourself just yet, like the Piantas from Super Mario Sunshine and the Conkdors from Super Mario 3D World, so we suspect they’ll be unlockable and the roster will only get bigger. There’s also some great new items like throwable hammers and a question block that gives you a ton of coins in a row. Some classic items even have altered functionality, like lightning not lasting as long or blue shells having cartoon phrases pop up when they hit you, but the coolest new upgrade we noticed is that every throwable item now automatically drags behind your kart without you having to hold down a button to do it. It’s one less thing to worry about, which is nice because you now have so many new things to worry about!

Knockout Tour, the Non-Stop Six-Race Fortnite-Style Battle Royale

Knockout Tour is the biggest race mode ever included in this series and it feels awesome. You start out in the open world, driving around and hanging out with friends while your race populates with 23 other players. Then, you’ll all choose a set of interconnected Grand Prix tracks you want to race on. Once the race kicks off, you need to stay out of the bottom four in each segment or you’ll get eliminated and booted back to the open world. So, the field is culled each lap from 24, to 20, to 16, all the way until there are only four racers left for the final segment. It’s incredibly fun and the tracks, endless items, kart racers, and general chaos make every race feel absolutely frenetic. Think the final lap of Baby Park on Mario Kart: Double Dash where it’s chaos and clutter everywhere, but with the aggressive goal of making sure you’re taking down others constantly to advance.

This mode was incredibly fun. Going from 4th place to 12th place in a Mario Kart game has been a thing for ages, but going from 2nd to 22nd because a series of bad luck or poor decisions put you behind the pack is a brand new feeling, and watching that happen and then getting instantly eliminated from the entire race (or doing it to somebody else) is absolutely hilarious. Generally, this feature adds some much needed urgency and aggression to Mario Kart and it’s utterly thrilling. Nintendo has been experimenting with this elimination style gameplay with lots of their franchises in the past few years, like Mario 35 and F-Zero 99, but it feels like such a perfect fit for Mario Kart and we suspect it’s gonna be a massive hit with both kids and the streamer crowds. Knockout Tour modes last much longer than a typical race, assuming you don’t get knocked out of the whole thing super early.

But Wait.. That Price!

Mario Kart World is $80! Everything we’ve seen and played is awesome and we can’t wait for it, but nothing about this game so far really screams “eighty dollar product.” Nintendo experimented with a $70 price tag on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and we suspect we’ll spend just as much time (or more) playing Mario Kart World throughout the Switch 2 lifespan, but it’s hard not to feel cynical about about this price, like Nintendo knows that Mario Kart 8 was the best-selling Switch game and one of the best-selling games of all time and that the successor will be a guaranteed hit, so hey, might as well upcharge us. If it came with a year of Switch Online or some sort of season pass of unlockable content it’d be a slightly easier pill to swallow, but as far as we know it doesn’t. Getting the game bundled with a Switch 2 drops the price down to $50 and since it will be there on the system’s launch day that’s likely how most players will get it, but still, the whole thing definitely stings a bit.

Regardless, Mario Kart World feels like the definitive Switch 2 launch game and will certainly be one of the defining games of the Switch 2 generation. The new open world format and Knockout Tour modes are massive new additions to the franchise, the visuals are gorgeous, the gameplay is a blast, and we can’t wait to play more, even if we wish it was a few bucks cheaper.

Brian Altano has been playing Mario Kart for 30+ years, and it's crazy that 10 of those years were spent with Mario Kart 8. We haven't seen Battle Mode for Mario Kart World yet, but he's still holding out hope that Block Fort can come back. Bring back Block Fort!

It’s been over 30 years since I wore out my VHS copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Since then the film franchise has been in a state of escalation. Where do you go after uncovering the literal Holy Grail? Aliens, then time machines, apparently. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the perfect antidote to all of this; one that uses its own figurative Dial of Destiny to propel us back in time to Indy’s prime. The result is easily one of the best Indy stories across both the games and the movies, with painstakingly detailed environments, wonderfully atmospheric tomb raiding and puzzle solving, a pitch-perfect score, and quite possibly the greatest punch sound effect in the business. While it does stumble occasionally as a stealth-focused sneak ’em up, The Great Circle is an otherwise grand and gorgeous globe-trotting adventure that left me giddy as a schoolboy. Yes, it’s true that bringing Indiana Jones back to the big screen (twice) after he literally rode off into the sunset was probably a poor choice. But having MachineGames craft an Indy experience inspired by all the best games in that development team’s past?

Bethesda chose wisely.

MachineGames’ most immediate legacy is the modern Wolfenstein series, and there’s certainly some of that on show in The Great Circle. Like The New Order and its excellent prequel and sequel, The Great Circle is first-person and highly story-driven, and I’d wager if there’s anyone who hates Nazis as much as Indy, it’s the Gestapo-gutting, SS-slaying BJ Blazkowicz. The Great Circle is not, however, a bloodthirsty exercise in double-fisted, lead-flinging fury. Unlike Wolfenstein, The Great Circle’s focus is patient and slower-paced exploration and stealth – where guns are rarely (and barely) a viable option.

That said, with the founding members of MachineGames all hailing from fellow Swedish studio Starbreeze, MachineGames’ DNA admittedly runs much deeper than Wolfenstein. For many of the team, it dates back to 2004’s outstanding and highly acclaimed The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Riddick’s first-person fisticuffs and adventure elements appear to have been a huge inspiration on The Great Circle, and it’s refreshing to be playing a game like Butcher Bay again – particularly when it’s done with this much verve and commitment to a storied franchise.

For clarity, I doubt anybody would’ve been shocked to see an Indiana Jones game in 2024 arrive as a clone of the blockbuster Uncharted series. It certainly wouldn’t have been unprecedented. After all, both 1999’s Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine and 2003’s Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb both followed a fairly strict Tomb Raider template. Pivoting to pay tribute to the man who usurped Lara as the premier grave-robbing vagabond of modern video games would hardly have been surprising – particularly as games today have become increasingly homogenised overall.

The Great Circle isn’t an Uncharted clone, and it’s all the better for it.

But The Great Circle isn’t an Uncharted clone, and it’s all the better for it. It’s an Indiana Jones game I didn’t even know I wanted, and sometimes that’s the best surprise. I like highly cinematic, quality third-person shooters as much as the next man, but not every game needs to be one. And besides, you can do a lot worse than taking notes from Butcher Bay – another licensed tie-in with the extremely rare distinction of being even better than the film upon which it was based.

Genius of the Restoration

The first-person perspective blesses The Great Circle with a fantastic sense of scale. Looking up in awe of the Great Pyramid – or staring out at a giant Nazi battleship perched atop a mountain in the Himalayas – simply has a more pronounced effect at eye-level. It also does wonders for immediacy, with puzzle solving in particular benefitting greatly. Picking up and poring over documents and clues, directly manipulating and placing objects, and watching the results unfold in front of your eyes makes it feel like you’re personally inside some of the world’s most expensive escape rooms. Puzzles come regularly, and they’re mostly light lifting, but I’ve encountered at least a couple of slightly curlier ones that left me smugly satisfied that I wasn’t stumped. If you do hit a roadblock, there’s a baked-in hint system that will only interject if you take an extra photo of the offending puzzle with your in-game camera. It’s a smart and courteous way of offering aid only when asked that will keep players off their phones and in the game.

On top of this, it’s really the best showcase for the incredible amount of granular detail MachineGames has stuffed into seemingly every surface in The Great Circle. From streak marks on freshly wiped glass to the slow trickle of wax from a candle lighting your way down an ancient stairwell, these are things that wouldn’t be noticed from any other viewpoint. Are they entirely necessary to make The Great Circle a great game? Maybe not, but they do paint a picture of a project where no flourish is too small if they make the world look and feel even a fraction more authentic.

After beginning with a short flashback to Raiders of the Lost Ark as a tutorial – one that might’ve been a tad indulgent had it not been so utterly well done – The Great Circle’s second level is a wonderful (and equally nostalgic) trip through Connecticut’s Marshall College. It’s a magnificent rendition and draped in layers upon layers of bespoke details that distracted me constantly on my way to the objective. Busts and other paraphernalia related to the history of the school. Cabinets full of exotic items. Notice boards cluttered with handmade signs. If you’d shown this version of Indy’s famous school to the eight-year-old version of me who cut his teeth aimlessly point-and-clicking his way around Marshall College in 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure, I might have had you burnt at the stake. Or at least lowered into a sacrificial lava pit without a heart.

The eye-catching environments keep coming: The ornate Italian architecture and crusty catacombs of Vatican City; An ancient town and multiple Nazi dig sites in the shadow of the Egyptian pyramids and the Great Sphinx; Sukhothai’s winding waterways and flooded temples, which are being reclaimed by the jungle. It’s all excellent stuff, and bolstered by exemplary ray-traced lighting to boot. I love the huge contrasts between the levels, and “the great circle” as a fanciful archaeological concept is an admirably effective premise to justify Indy hopping all over the globe during a single story.

David Shaughnessy's unerring version of Marcus Brody may go criminally unnoticed in Baker’s shadow.

The strength of that story here is one of The Great Circle’s true assets, and it’s been brought to life with some very impressive performances. For the most part, Troy Baker’s Harrison Ford impersonation is close to spot-on, and Baker’s otherwise distinct voice disappears in the role. Credit too must go to voice actor David Shaughnessy, whose unerring version of Denholm Elliot’s Marcus Brody may go criminally unnoticed in Baker’s shadow. This could have very much felt like a gimmick considering Elliot passed away back in 1992, but Brody’s small role feels meaningful and respectful, and not like a stunt. Marios Gavrilis also kills it as the slimy and sinister Nazi archaeologist Emmerich Voss; he spits his dialogue with such venom I imagine his microphone may have required a tiny umbrella. Most of the meaningful conversations occur in well-directed cutscenes, which are on par with those in modern Wolfenstein, albeit punctuated with an appropriate amount of slightly slapstick Indiana Jones humour when the fists start flying. There are basically two movies worth of cutscenes here, but it never felt like too much. This is Indy in his prime, and I’m on board for every extra minute of it.

As a rule, the Indiana Jones series is always at its best when it involves a desperate race to track down an artifact before the Nazis can nab it for what they believe will be an unbeatable, world-conquering advantage. Those movies were video game fetch quests before video game fetch quests, and The Great Circle naturally embraces it, immediately beginning on the right foot by setting its action in 1937 – directly between the events of Raiders and The Last Crusade, as the world simmers towards the Second World War.

It’s honestly quite remarkable how convincingly The Great Circle fits into the hole between those two impeccable films, successfully exploiting the odd chronology of the original Indy trilogy. That goes far beyond just providing a little extra context on Indy’s separation from Marion Ravenwood, too. In fact, one of the greatest compliments I can pay The Great Circle is that it may well be the best Indiana Jones movie you’ve never seen. The music, too, is a victory on all fronts, and I love how in sync it feels with Raiders and The Last Crusade. I was especially thrilled to see The Great Circle crescendo to a showdown that follows tightly in the footsteps of both of those films – yet still managed to knock me out with a brilliantly unexpected twist.

Aid our own resuscitation

On the topic of knockouts, combat in The Great Circle is satisfyingly brutal without being gratuitously violent, which is in keeping with its family-friendly, swashbuckling adventure serial roots. I love the deeply impressive sound design, which makes every strike sound like a golf club being slammed into a huge bunch of celery, and I love how visceral the fighting is in first-person. You block and parry blows with the correct timing, and deliver quick jabs and loaded up power punches. On top of that, Indy’s bullwhip can be used to quickly disarm enemies, and stun them long enough to either wade in and whack them or scoop up their dropped weapon and bludgeon them with it.

I enjoy how Butcher Bay-adjacent the fighting is but I’m a little unconvinced by the stamina system that rules over it, which depletes as Indy exerts himself climbing, sprinting, and throwing hands. It just creates pauses throughout the action where you’ll be compelled to wait for a beat, or jog backwards as a gaggle of goose-stepping morons march towards you with their dukes up. I can’t really detect what it adds other than something to be arbitrarily upgraded to the point where it’s no longer an inconvenience.

Combat escalates with your actions so, if you do grab a gun and start blasting, expect all armed enemies in your vicinity to respond with hot lead of their own. Indy can’t survive this kind of barrage so, for the most part, the best thing to do is forget the firearms. This does, admittedly, create a bit of silliness if you stir up a large enemy response and park yourself anywhere your attackers need to climb to reach. You can, for instance, stand at the top of a ladder and clobber the crap out of everyone who climbs it for some time, and no one will figure out that they have guns and can simply shoot at you (on regular difficulty, at least). But you’d be colouring outside the lines here, playing like this. Indy doesn’t mind leaving bodies in his wake when necessary, but he’s not some moustache-twirling mass murderer. You can always fire up Wolfenstein if you need to get some of that out of your system.

Indy doesn’t mind leaving bodies in his wake, but he’s not some mass murderer.

On the topic of guns, though, Indy’s personal revolver is sadly a big disappointment. I used it all of twice, but both were still total anticlimaxes. The first was an early boss battle where Indy’s pistol really should’ve been written out of the fight before the showdown began. After placing several bullets into a man’s unarmored head, it became clear that shooting this bloke wasn’t the way MachineGames intended me to clear this encounter. The second was late in the story, where I thought, ‘There’s no point rolling credits with revolver rounds in the cylinder!’ and figured I’d quickly plug two Nazis that suddenly appeared ahead of me in an open elevator. They simply took too many shots to go down. It seems like a weird fumble, when the scene of Indy actually using his pistol and taking out the Raiders swordsman in a single shot is one of the most memorable moments in the whole film franchise. Revolver rounds should absolutely remain exceedingly rare, but the pistol itself really should have shipped with the consistent stopping power of its cinematic counterpart.

It also rarely feels logical that high-ranking enemies within the levels can automatically see through disguises, particularly in Vatican City. It is a mechanic I’m accustomed to thanks to the likes of Hitman, which I’ll be clear is another game I love, but it’s definitely a little sillier here. It really is total nonsense that a random Italian officer would physically attack a stranger who is, for all intents and purposes, a visiting priest.

This is only a mild annoyance though and, to be fair, The Great Circle actually has a very smart approach to difficulty overall. There’s a lot more fiddling you can do than just adjust a single setting from easy to very hard. Enemy attributes are split into several categories, meaning you can tweak it so that there are tougher enemies, but fewer of them. Maybe you want to pump up their awareness, but make them weaker than wet newspapers. (This is something I think I may try for a second run.) It’s good that these options are here because, on regular difficulty, the stealth is quite basic; enemies have pretty limited vision and they’re easier to sneak past than I first assumed. I definitely became progressively less cautious once I realised I could sneak across seemingly dangerously open places as long as I did it fast enough.

That said, The Great Circle does allow us to return to previously visited locations to complete all the extra side missions, even after the main adventure is complete, so I may focus on that instead of starting over. I suspect I have many more hours of auxiliary objectives to keep me busy; I only got around to ticking off a handful of them on my first run through the story, which took me about 17 hours.

The Freezer is a rare room in Blue Prince that freezes your currency, allowing you to carry it over to the next run.

While your assets are frozen in the Freezer, you’re also unable to pick up any more gems or gold pieces. But there are ways to thaw the Freezer — and your assets — exposing deeper secrets and leading you on some new adventures.

In this Blue Prince guide, we’ll show you how to unfreeze items in the Freezer, plus explain the door in the Freezer, and what all you’ll find in there.

How to melt the ice in the Freezer in Blue Prince

Once you draft the Freezer, your gold and gems will automatically freeze, meaning you not only can’t spend your existing gold and gems, but you also can’t pick up any you come across in future rooms.

A little thermometer icon will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. You’ll also notice several frozen items on the shelves next to you, in addition to a big ice chest ahead, and a frozen door to the left.

There are two primary ways to unfreeze the items (and the doorway) in the Freezer.

Use a fire item to melt every chunk of ice in the Freezer. This includes the door, and you can in the Freezer by clicking on them. When you first start the game, you’ll have access to the Burning Glass fire item, which you can craft via the Workshop by combining the Magnifying Glass and the Metal Detector. Alternatively, after you’ve solved the chess puzzle, you can select the Knight’s power, which will give you access to the Armory, which sells the Torch. The Torch can do the same things as the Burning Glass, but doesn’t require you to combine multiple items together to make it.

Heat up the room itself. If you draft a Furnace in relative proximity to the Freezer and then re-enter the Freezer, the temperature will slowly tick up. (According to our testing, column doesn’t have bearing on the outcome, but you’ll need to place both rooms within three ranks of each other.) As the thermometer rises, the ice will start to disappear and you’ll gain access to all the goodies inside. Hanging out in the Furnace or Sauna room for long enough will also unfreeze your assets.

But that’s not all there is to the Freezer.

[Ed. note: Spoilers follow for Blue Prince.]

The Freezer contains several currency items — which can be annoying, given your gold and gems are frozen, but helpful if you decide to heat the room with the Furnace. But the real treasure is in the frozen room and the ice chest.

In the ice chest, you’ll find a Prism Key, which is very useful for drafting around the house. But you’ll also find a letter from the Baron. This letter will give you some significant hints for both solving the house’s two picture puzzle and for how how you should interpret the message you get when you do.

Inside the frozen room, you can pick up an Upgrade Disk for any nearby terminals and a letter that will help you figure out the Admin Key you need to get into the terminal in Blackbridge Grotto, one of the estate’s permanent additions.

Trying to find the best games on PC isn’t easy. Hundreds of them show up every day on places like Steam and Itch.io. It’s hard to keep up. But don’t worry — we’ve got you. This list has the 20 best games on PC you can play right now.

PC games has become even more ubiquitous in the last decade. Not only do console games make their way over more frequently now, surprise hits like Among Us and Lethal Company feel like they can show up at any moment. That’s the beauty of playing games on a such an open platform: It’s always thriving.

You don’t even have to worry about backward compatibility for old games. A lot of them still work, or have been updated by fans. If you never want to leave the frigid mountains of Skyrim, you don’t have to! Plenty of classic games still have a heartbeat and have grown up over the last few decades. Where else can you jump into a 20-year-old MMO like World of Warcraft?

The games below are of a variety of genres and art styles. They can be played for a handful of hours or hundreds of hours, on keyboard and mouse or controller. Handheld PC players should check out our list of the best games on Steam Deck, but several of our picks are certified to run on those too.

Our latest update added Elden Ring.

How we pick the best games on PC

The Polygon staff plays a lot of video games, and everything in this list comes personally recommended by at least one of us. We determined what should be on our list of the best PC games by looking at the quality of each title, but also with an eye for breadth and variety — so you should find something on the list you’ll enjoy, no matter what genres of game you like, how much time you have, or what vibe you are after.

The Anime Streaming Service, Explained

Crunchyroll is the biggest name in the space for anime, originally launching in 2006. You can find some of the most popular anime available like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Fate/stay night, My Hero Academia, and more. The streaming platform was acquired by Sony through Funimation in 2020 for $1.2B, with Sony opting to sunset the Funimation streaming service as a result and folding it into Crunchyroll.

The service is available for free with ads on select series and episodes, but Crunchyroll has slowly rolled back the number of anime you can watch without a Premium subscription. Just recently, almost all episodes of One Piece were made exclusive to Premium members only.

How Much Does Crunchyroll Cost?

Each Crunchyroll Premium tier is priced $4 apart. The Fan tier is set at $7.99/month, the Mega Fan tier is $11.99/month, and the Ultimate Fan tier is set at $15.99/month. The last time Crunchyroll increased prices was in May 2024, with only the Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan tiers affected.

What Crunchyroll Premium Tiers Are There?

Once again, Crunchyroll has three different pricing options for Premium members: Fan, Mega Fan, and Ultimate Fan. All anime is available across each of the tiers, so you won't need to worry about missing out on certain series if you do not subscribe to the highest tier.

Fan Subscription - $7.99 per month

To break down the tiers, Fan is the standard Crunchyroll Premium membership, offering the entire Crunchyroll anime library ad-free. You can actively stream on one device at a time, and you'll also recieve a 5% discount off select products at the Crunchyroll Store.

Mega Fan - $11.99 per month

Mega Fan is the most popular tier, with support for up to four different streams concurrently. This tier also unlocks offline viewing, so you can download episodes of any anime and watch them even if you do not have access to the internet. Mega Fan also gives you the Crunchyroll Game Vault, a selection of free games you can download to your mobile device. You'll also recieve a 10% discount at the Crunchyroll Store, up from the Fan tier's 5% discount, with free shipping on orders over $50.

Ultimate Fan - $15.99 per month

Finally, Ultimate Fan is the last tier Crunchyroll offers. All perks from the Mega Fan plan carry over, except you can now stream on up to six different devices at a time. Additionally, your Crunchyroll Store discount is moved to 15%, with early access to deals and free US shipping on orders. Lastly, active subscribers will receive an exclusive swag bag after 12 consecutive months of subscription.

How to Watch Crunchyroll - Available Platforms

Crunchyroll is available on almost every platform out there. You can watch anime on the official website, or on your mobile device with official apps for iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, and Samsung Galaxy. Additionally, the streaming service is available on gaming consoles like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can also use any media player like Apple TV, Google TV, Roku TV, and more to access the service.

For more streaming platform guides, check out 2025 Hulu Subscriptions, Netflix Plans, ESPN+ Plans, and Disney+ Plans.
