Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting once more for a new crime thriller at Netflix called Animals, and Affleck is set to direct while Damon will be the one starring in front of the camera.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the film - which was said to have previously been under such potential titles as The Animals of Los Angeles and Be Gentlemen - is set to begin shooting in Los Angeles by March if all the "pieces come together."
The movie will be written by Connor McIntyre, with revisions by Billy Ray, and it looks to follow a mayoral candidate whose son has been kidnapped. With enemies everywhere, the candidate and his wife must resort to extreme measures to get their child home.
Animals will be produced by Affleck and Damon's Artists Equity, the artist-led studio that aims to reward all those who bring the film to the big screen. The studio's first produced movie was Air, which we called a "crowed-pleaser with a standout ensemble cast sharpened to a point."
"As both director and co-star, Ben Affleck finds a balance between comedy and explanation that remains accessible to all audiences," IGN's Matt Donato wrote in our Air review. "Sneakerhead historians might not find themselves challenged or enlightened regarding the events of the Air Jordan deal, and it does feel a little less impactful than we’ve come to expect from Affleck in terms of cinematography and iconically ‘80s atmosphere, but Air is an accomplished character study, scene after scene."
Artists Equity's Dani Bernfeld will also be producing Animals alongside MakeReady's Brad Weston and Collin Creighton and Fifth Season.
