Bandai Namco has officially announced Gundam Breaker 4's release date, confirming that the first numbered entry in the series in six years will be out August 29.
Like other games in the series, Gundam Breaker 4 is an action game based on the franchise's plastic model fandom, known as Gunpla. It allows players to mix and match together popular Gundams to create their own units, sometimes with amusing results.

Despite its name, Gundam Breaker 4 is the fifth major release in the series. The most recent game, titled New Gundam Breaker, was panned by fans and reviewers alike for poor technical performance and watered down mechanics. Gundam Breaker 4 is a deliberate attempt to get back to the formula from the first three games, which retain a dedicated fanbase.
The official release touts more than 250 mobile suits, with newcomers including the Gundam Aerial from the fan-favorite Witch from Mercury. It will also include co-op multiplayer supporting up to three players as well as the ability to use two different weapons for unique combos — a first for the series.
A diorama mode will be available that will allow players to "construct elaborate scenarios with a variety of backgrounds, environmental elements, and special effects, then place Gunpla creations to capture the perfect pose with highly articulable models."
Gundam Breaker 4 will release in Digital Deluxe and Digital Ultimate Edition versions, with the former offering early access to parts from 15 hero mobile suits and five story mission packs, and the latter offering a special Diorama Pack.
Gundam Breaker 4 is currently under development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. For more, check out the rest of the biggest games coming out in 2024.
