Starfield will have a big year as the space RPG approaches its first anniversary. Beyond the massive May update, Bethesda Game Studios previously confirmed it is working on a DLC titled Shattered Space. Though details on the paid expansion are slim, Bethesda seemingly confirmed it focuses on the House Va'ruun.
In the Starfield May update video Bethesda posted yesterday, towards the end, Starfield Lead Creative Producer Tim Lamb briefly touched on the fact that the development team is working on "more quests" for Starfield in addition to the upcoming "massive expansion" Shattered Space.
Interestingly, when Lamb's voiceover mentions Shattered Space, the footage cuts to a developer working on dragging two pillars on a purple-hued planet. However, some individuals, like Redditor Bradyla123, noticed that zooming into that particular frame reveals that the assets the developer moved referred to House Va'ruun, as shown in the screenshot below.
Bethesda previously revealed it was working on Shattered Space last year before Starfield was released, though details on what the expansion would entail have been scarce since. Fans have theorized about what the DLC focuses on, with many speculating it revolves around Va'ruun.
In the base game House Va'ruun, the United Colonies, and Freestar Collective are the three government bodies that oversee the Settled Systems. Though Starfield lore mentions the history of House Va'ruun and its involvement in the greater Settled Systems, House Va'ruun itself is somewhat of a boogeyman, with the coordinates to its home planet, Va'ruun'kai, unknown at this current time.
With Shattered Space confirmed by Todd Howard to release this fall, a reveal during Microsoft's June showcase event looks set in stone.
