The player characters are only one side of a Dungeons & Dragons game. Heroes need their antagonists, and the DM is spoiled for choice. D&D Fifth Edition has many books full of monsters, ranging from the classic Monster Manual to more esoteric books like Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters Of The Multiverse.
