Preorders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 officially open in the U.S. on April 9, and retailers are already vying for your business with special incentives. Best Buy has committed to a midnight launch and in-store pickup, but Walmart is making an even bolder promise: free delivery by 9 AM local time on launch day, June 5, for those who preorder through the retailer.
This ambitious claim, currently displayed on Walmart’s video games landing page, could sway buyers considering other major retailers like Best Buy, Target, or GameStop. If getting your hands on the Switch 2 as early as possible is a priority, Walmart’s offer might be hard to resist.
Several versions of the Switch 2 preorder listings are now available to view at Walmart before preorders go live next week, including the base console for $449.99 and a special, limited-time Mario Kart World bundle offer for $499.99. That's a $30 saving compared to buying the console and game separately, as the beloved racer will retail for $79.99 in the US.
Switch 2's Mario Kart world bundle is above and beyond the best deal when it comes to preordering, especially as it's a limited time release in the US, and will only be available while stock lasts.
Alongside the console, a mix of brand-new titles and enhanced editions of existing games will also be up for preorder next week. Some will arrive on launch day, while others have staggered release dates. Here are some key highlights:
- Mario Kart World – Available on launch day, June 5.
- Zelda: TOTK (Switch 2 Edition) – Available on launch day, June 5.
- Donkey Kong Bonanza – Releasing a little later on July 17.
Walmart’s preorder perks could be a game-changer for those eager to play on day one. If you’re considering locking in a purchase, you can bookmark Walmart’s landing page and other retailers’ listings ahead of April 9 to ensure you don’t miss out.
