Straight out of Cimmeria, Conan the Barbarian yawps his way into Mortal Kombat 1 later this month as part of the ongoing Khaos Reigns expansion.

Conan’s appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 is based off the 1982 movie of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. And while Arnold lent his likeness to the fighter, voice actor Chris Cox — who also portrayed the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11 — does an impeccable job recreating the governator’s iconic Austrian accent.

The swordplay on display in Conan’s reveal is surprisingly fluid for a Mortal Kombat game, utilizing some of the best animation work of the franchise’s modern era. Keep an eye out for a variety of Easter eggs as well, including Conan fighting alongside a red Sonya and an Animality that turns him into a Cimmerian bull, the same animal Conan claims to have strangled as a child in early stories by creator Robert E. Howard.

Conan will be available on Jan. 21 as part of an early access period for those who purchased the Khaos Reigns expansion in full and on Jan. 28 for everyone else. He is the fifth guest character to join the Mortal Kombat 1 roster after Invincible’s Omni-Man, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, The Boys’ Homelander, and Scream’s Ghostface. Terminator 2’s T-1000 is planned to round out the game’s playable roster sometime in the future.
