Unlike traditional board games like Risk or trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, the premier TTRPG Dungeons & Dragons is a group effort, and the players all win together. Dungeons & Dragons is a coordinated effort to explore a fully fleshed-out campaign world and defeat the ultimate villain, or BBEG, but even with all that action, it's not about players versus players. Problems may occur on either side of the DM screen if either or both parties don't understand or agree on how the game should be played.
