Emma Seligman's teen comedy Bottoms is already making waves, as it was released to widespread critical acclaim. It's applauded for both its direction and its screenplay, as well as the performances of stars Ayo Edebiri (one of the breakout actresses of the summer, after her acclaimed performances in The Bear, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Theatre Camp) and Rachel Sennott, who shone in Bodies Bodies Bodies and co-wrote the script for the new film as well. Not only that, but it had the highest per-screen average for a limited opening since Everything, Everywhere All at Once, which bodes well for the success of the indie flick.
