After multiple delays since its initial unveiling in 2021, ARC Raiders is now set to arrive sometime in 2025.
The announcement was made at gamescom Opening Night Live, with Embark Studios also revealing that playtesting will begin this fall. You can watch the latest teaser for ARC Raiders below.
ARC Raiders, from former Battlefield and Star Wars: Battlefront developers, was first announced at the 2021 Game Awards, with Embark Studios saying at the time that it would be headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. Shortly after, however, the studio delayed the game to 2023. It was also revealed in 2023 that the game had shifted from a co-op PvP game to a "PvPvE survival extraction shooter."
The game made quite an impression with its reveal trailer, introducing a vibrant sci-fi world. Today's trailer shows off a bit more of that, although not too much else.
Aleksander Grøndal, ARC Raiders' executive producer, shared an excerpt of ARC Raiders' lore in a 2023 Medium post, giving us some idea of what the upcoming game will focus on:
"People have fled to the underground colony of Speranza, seeking supplies to survive, and shelter from the machines," the text read. "Demand for resources is at an all-time high. But getting those resources is a risky job, and it isn’t for everyone. But it is a job for you. That’s why you’ve enlisted as a Raider, scavenging for vital supplies that are scattered across the landscape. Everything from leftovers from yesterday’s run-in with ARC to the unlikely remains of a pinball machine."
