The next Game of Thrones spin-off, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, arrives late 2025.
Speaking during Warner Bros. Discovery's latest earnings call, CEO David Zaslav revealed the release window but didn't offer a specific date. The show currently has a number of working titles including Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Tales of Dunk and Egg, and The Hedge Knight.
"George R.R. Martin is in pre-production for the new spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will premiere in late 2025 on Max," Zaslav said.
The show, based on Martin's Dunk and Egg novels, takes place roughly 100 years before Game of Thrones and tells the story of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Aegon V Targaryen, also known as Dunk and Egg.
"A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros: a young, naïve, but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg," the official synopsis said. "Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."
Season 1 will adapt the first book, The Hedge Knight, and Martin said in 2023 it was targeting a six episode run, but this may change. HBO is already looking towards a three a season run to cover all three novellas.
