For longtime Harry Potter fans, there’s always something special about returning to the Wizarding World. Whether it’s rereading the books, rewatching the films, or diving into new adaptations, the magic never really fades. One of the more exciting ways to revisit the story is through the interactive illustrated editions, and right now, the first three books in the series are on sale at Amazon.
These editions aren’t part of Jim Kay’s illustrated series but instead feature interactive elements and stunning artwork designed to bring the story to life in a whole new way.
The first three in the refreshed interactive illustrated series—Philosopher's Stone (Sorcerer's Stone), Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban—were created by MinaLima, the design duo known for their work on the Harry Potter films. Each book includes full-color illustrations and intricate paper-engineered elements that add a tactile, pop-up book experience to key moments in the story.
Right now, these interactive editions are available at a discount (around $22 for each, down from $38), with Amazon offering lower prices for a limited time (see here for the discount in the UK). For collectors or those experiencing the Wizarding World for the first time, this is a great opportunity to add these unique editions to your bookshelf.

Sony has sneakily debuted two new PlayStation 5 slim bundles that include a download voucher for the beloved platforming game Astro Bot (Astro’s Playroom still comes pre-installed) and will launch on March 13. The consoles lack any sort of unique Astro Bot-themed design — not even the tough-to-find limited edition Astro Bot DualSense is included — but I suppose all is forgiven, because both the disc-based and digital-only consoles are $50 cheaper than their stand-alone counterparts. You’ll pay $449.99 or $399.99, respectively, bringing the costs in line with Black Friday prices.

I’ve wished for an Astro Bot PS5 bundle since the game launched last year. It’s a phenomenal game, the winner of many game of the year awards (it ranked second in our list, losing only to Balatro), and it’s great to see a bundle that recognizes the huge impact it made during 2024. Regardless of whether you want to dig into the game, these bundles are currently the most affordable entry points into the PlayStation 5.

Nexus Mods’ recent removal of custom skins that gave Captain America the heads of United States presidents Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama in Marvel Rivals caused a bit of a stir among the types who typically freak out about this sort of thing. As such, the popular mod repository is doing its best to combat the misinformation and subsequent harassment surrounding its decision.

“By removing the Trump mod, we are simply executing our existing file submission policies,” Nexus Mods said on X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 8, referencing its 2020 decision to enforce a site-wide ban on “cowards with sock puppet accounts” uploading “provocative and troll mods” based on sociopolitical issues in the United States. “What has been overlooked in much of the conversation is that we also removed other mods featuring US presidents uploaded to the site for Marvel Rivals, such as Biden and Obama.”

The statement goes on to explain that, as a small company based out of the United Kingdom with no stake in the goings-on of the American government, Nexus Mods doesn’t wish to be used as a platform for political discussion about the United States.

“The Trump mod was reported to us and, in line with our [terms of service], we’ve been actively ensuring that any other American political mods are also removed from our site,” Nexus Mods said. “While we have the right to choose what we host on our platform, we are not the authority on what you do or do not decide to mod into your games, and these mods can be found elsewhere on other sites.”

And there’s the crux of the issue. Like the above statement mentions, several websites free of so-called censorship now exist to house these kinds of controversial mods. The community that really wants a Trump mod for Marvel Rivals therefore doesn’t need Nexus Mods, so it’s not clear why they’re still resorting to two-bit trolling when they could happily move on to greener pastures that cater to whatever belief is driving their desire for this mod.

Nexus Mods owner Robin Scott summed up the situation perfectly on Jan. 6, two days before the official statement went out on X, in the comments of a Reddit thread about “censorship” on his site:

We also removed the exact same mod with Joe Biden’s head at the same time (on the 2nd of January) to ensure there was no bias and because we don’t want to handle all the nutjobs that come out the woodwork whenever these mods get posted. Funny how the outrage-bait YouTubers don’t mention that, isn’t it?

Case in point, today, with all the nutjobs coming out of the woodwork sending us death threats, calling us pedos and all the other “wah wahs” that come with this ridiculous situation because some YouTuber told them we are only removing Trump mods.

It’s so dumb, and these people are so dumb, that I really cannot be fucked with it. I’m not expecting any of my staff to have to handle these whackjobs any more than showing them the door either. So we delete all the mods we see/that get reported to us on the topic, and all the people this upsets can trot-on because it’s really not worth our time or effort to care about.

In the United States, Donald Trump is about to be president again, and the Republican Party’s significant gains in Congress mean his opponents will be able to do very little to impede his hateful vision for the future. But because certain segments of the online right — in this case, the gamer contingent — can’t deal with the fact political power doesn’t necessarily impart cultural cachet, they’re apparently going to keep needling platforms like Nexus Mods with fake controversies. Fortunately, the website already has guardrails in place to nip these issues in the bud, and its leadership has the courage to face down what could end up being daily harassment for its decisions.

Riot Games has used the League of Legends client to host other projects before, like new game modes, summer events, and associated visual novels. It’s a fun way to interact with the universe beyond just playing League of Legends. For instance, Arcane was accompanied by a point-and-click adventure game in the League client called Jinx Fixes Everything. On March 19, Riot added a new game to the client called Demon’s Hand, and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen from Riot before — although it does bring the surreal, twisting card game Inscryption to mind.

Demon’s Hand is diegetically set in the world of League of Legends, specifically on the ancient Noxian plains. A mysterious, bandaged man sits across from me at the card table, and feeds me morsels of lore on the conquest of Sahn-Uzal, the demon Atakhan, and my own, mysterious identity. I don’t know who I am, but after I beat the first boss of Demon’s Hand, I look down at my hands as they sprout wicked claws and clench with a hidden fury.

This strange, unsettling narrative is backed up by the mechanics of the card game, which draw a lot from poker. As someone who spent far too much time recently on Balatro, I took to Demon’s Hand fairly easily. The game itself is stylish; I play with painted, wooden slabs, each showing the face of Noxian soldiers or creatures. Low horns and drums punctuate the action, making each turn feel important and ominous. My masked, mysterious guide sits with his back to the sun, which slowly warps and shifts along with my body. It’s a really cool little game, though a short one — my first playthrough lasted about 20 minutes, and I can’t see myself doing more than one or two more runs.

It was surprising to see an Inscryption-like narrative experience in my League of Legends client, but I’m certainly not complaining. League and Demon’s Hand are both free-to-play, and it’s worth giving this weird experiment a spin if you’re into card game roguelikes and League lore.

Fallout is heading into familiar territory for Season 2. New Vegas is in the cards, and thanks to a new purported set photo leak, we might have some more confirmation about the sights we'll see again; specifically, one giant dino.

Fallout is heading into familiar territory for the second season of its streaming show. New Vegas is in the cards, and thanks to a new purported set leak, we might have more confirmation about the sights we'll see again; specifically, one giant dino.

Warning! Potential spoilers for Fallout Season 2 follow:

The ending of Fallout Season 1 teased the show would head to New Vegas, and later co-showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet confirmed as much. Naturally, you'd expect to see some locales from the Obsidian-developed Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout Fan Art has shared a photo they were sent, which appears to show a giant T-rex head. While the leak is unconfirmed for now, it certainly implies the show will have Dinky the T-Rex, the roadside mascot of Novac in New Vegas.

Dinky plays a big role in the early parts of Fallout: New Vegas. It's a major landmark on the player's route if they take the long way to New Vegas from Goodsprings, and also houses two potential companions as lookouts in the dino's mouth.

It's nice to think Novac will appear in the show, as its characters and locale would be fun to see Lucy and the others trek through. There's a chance it could look substantially different, though, depending on a few factors. The town can end up in several different states depending on the Courier's actions in Fallout: New Vegas, leaving it either successfully defended, abandoned, or overrun by the Legion.

Despite varied endings, the Fallout show may condense the possibilities down, too. The TV series takes place in 2296, 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. When asked about what's happened in the Mojave in the time between, the Fallout TV showrunners said the setting has changed.

"All we really want the audience to know is that things have happened, so that there isn't an expectation that we pick the show up in season two, following one of the myriad canon endings that depend on your choices when you play [Fallout: New Vegas],” Wagner told GQ.

“With that post-credits stuff, we really wanted to imply, guys, the world has progressed, and the idea that the wasteland stays as it is decade-to-decade is preposterous to us. It’s just a place [of] constant tragedy, events, horrors — there's a constant churn of trauma. We're definitely implying more has occurred."

Where could that leave Novac? The town could still be standing, now reinforced with Bright Brotherhood followers, or it could have fallen to the Legion. Dinky the Dinosaur, or at the very least its head, seems like it could make an appearance.

Seeing the attached gift shop and all its souvenirs would certainly add to the world and fit the tone of the show. There could even be a fun reference with That Gun, a modified .223 pistol that could be found in Novac in Fallout: New Vegas, made to resemble a similar signature firearm from Fallout 1 and 2. If anything, building up some more visual iconography for the show justifies a visit to the Dino Bite gift shop all on its own.

Novac also provides an avenue for the show to establish the history of the area, especially what might have taken place at the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. A cameo for characters like Boone, Manny, Cliff Briscoe, and more are easily possible, especially with Dinky potentially appearing. While the TV showrunners seem determined to avoid canon implications, Novac and Dinky feel like they're filled with too much potential to simply leave by the wayside.

To help tide you over until Season 2 premieres, be sure to check out our interview with Todd Howard and Jonathan Nolan covering all our burning questions after the end of Season 1.

Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Into the Deep commits the most unforgivable sin of any “fin flick”: The sharks on the poster look better than the ones in the actual movie.

$value[8]['content']

Into the Deep opens in select theaters and debuts on digital and on-demand Friday, January 24.

Filmmakers, I’m begging you. Stop trying to capitalize on shark-horror hype if you can’t pull off adequate digital effects. Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep is the latest on a growing list of smaller-scale shark-attack movies that are more than underwhelming; they’re insulting. It’s one thing to stomach the no-budget CG of a Sharktopus rerun on Syfy. The problem with movies like Into the Deep, The Black Demon, and Maneater is that you’re paying in-theater or at-home rental prices for the same low quality. The dialogue is brainless, the story is sloppily absurd, and the sharks are giving Temu Deep Blue Sea. Yeah, Into the Deep is another tragic “fin flick.”

Scout Taylor-Compton of Rob Zombie’s Halloween(s) fame stars as Cassidy Branham, a traumatized wife with a rational fear of sharks. Into the Deep routinely flashes back to Cassidy’s childhood, when a rogue great white devoured her father (an unintentionally hilarious and overlong memory). Cassidy’s finally ready to face her fears by accompanying hubby Gregg (Callum McGowan) on a diving expedition to locate sunken treasures. Things go well for approximately 5 seconds under the oversight of skipper Daemon (Stuart Townsend) before sharks attack his divers. Then pirates commandeer Daemon’s ratty vessel and demand Cassidy, Gregg, and other tagalongs retrieve their underwater drug stash. It’s all very silly – and that’s only the start.

Now, being silly isn’t a problem, and it helps Into the Deep avoid the doldrums of stranded persons bobbing like oceanic snacks for 90 minutes. Jon Seda’s cajun-flavored pirate captain, Jordan Devane, is an ex-Navy specialist turned maritime criminal who isn’t afraid to play up his character’s bargain-bin villainy. The unnecessary shootouts he orchestrates, the additional threat he represents, and the predictability of his cruelty – it’s ridiculous enough to amuse. What disappointed me is how often writers Chad Law and Josh Ridgway’s story, at the mercy of its inexplicably erratic pacing, veers only to chomp another victim or show off the movie’s toothy eyesores.

Into the Deep flunks Shark Horror 101. Anyone tuning into Sesma’s drug-smuggling, antique-hunting thriller is hoping to see some halfway believable approximation of nature’s perfect predator, but what they’ll get are pixelated great whites that aren’t even cleanly layered into scenes. They may as well be cardboard cutouts taped to your screen – as dreadfully fake as the blood clouds that bloom among the splashing actors mimicking being eaten. You can’t phone in the fins, certainly not nine years after The Shallows showed you could pull this sort of thing off with CG. I’d go as far as to say Into the Deep appears visually unfinished, like the effects budget went poof and producers shipped it to theaters, digital, and on-demand anyway.

There’s a carelessness on display here. Visual dreck is one thing, but Sesma struggles to synch the sounds of yelps and comical "I swear I’m dying!" arm flails. Nor did he seem to attempt practical exhaust fumes on set, instead pumping in a garish post-production smog that adds another layer of cheapness to Into the Deep. Cinematographer Niccolo De La Fere is playing an unwinnable hand because even if his camera remains steady on the water, what’s captured is ugly enough to ruin the mood. The colors onscreen are unnatural, the shark skins glisten like they’ve been embossed in Photoshop, and the flesh-and-blood actors fail to mesh with their digital, aquatic co-stars.

Sesma’s hardly in control of his ship, and has trouble navigating the story’s tonal shifts, too. Jaws’ own Richard Dreyfuss surfaces as Cassidy’s oceanographer grandfather, Seamus, but rather than porting over some gravitas from the granddaddy of all shark movies, flashbacks featuring the Oscar winner derail what little momentum Into the Deep has. One minute, Jordan’s ordering his bulletproof-vested henchmen to gun down Coast Guard officials like they’re extras in a grindhouse oddity. The next? Seamus teaches Cassidy not to fear the water in an emotionally dull rewind. Cassidy has a full-blown meltdown when she sees a shark diving cage, and then a few seconds later, she’s swimming for shipwreck scraps without a care. It’s all so nonsensical, from the characters who topple overboard completely unharmed versus the ones who are digested, to Cassidy beckoning a shark to her side with seemingly Aquawoman-like powers.

Into the Deep flunks Shark Horror 101.

Taylor-Compton’s multifaceted performance is set adrift in a sea of incompetence. She’s playing the suffering child, the heroic badass, and more, but Law and Ridgway fail to unite these sides of her character. And the many components that make up Into the Deep have been done better before: the diving expedition gone wrong in 47 Meters Down, the nautical intruders in Deep Blue Sea 3 (where they're mercenaries rather than pirates). May this concrete-footed letdown sink to pitch-black depths never to be seen again.

Back in 2021, Philip Summers launched a Kickstarter campaign for Hand-Drawn Game Guides, a series of books that resembled traditional strategy guides, apart from the fact that they were all illustrated by Summers. The campaign was a hit, generating over $300,000 in pledges, but like a number of fan projects utilizing game company IPs, it was pulled before the countdown ended.

He ended up changing plans due to legal concerns, going on to work on other projects and releasing the planned guides from the campaign as free downloads. From the outside, that seemed like the new path for Hand-Drawn Game Guides.

But then, in January 2025, Summers returned to Kickstarter with a surprise announcement — he’d struck a deal with Capcom to make an officially licensed entry in the series: Hand-Drawn Game Guides: Mega Man. That campaign was also a success, and Summers is now working on the book and intending to release it later this year.

In an effort to spotlight game-related books and documentaries, Polygon is running an email interview series with the people behind them. We previously connected with Julian Rignall about his not-quite-an-autobiography The Games of a Lifetime, Paul Vogel about his Housemarque documentary The Name of the Game, Lewis Packwood about his obscure game hardware book Curious Video Game Machines, and Oliver Harper about his Street Fighter 2 documentary Here Comes a New Challenger. Below, Summers discusses how the Mega Man project came about and where he wants to take Hand-Drawn Game Guides in the future.

Polygon: When you launched the Kickstarter campaign, a lot of people were surprised that the book was licensed by Capcom. How did that come about behind the scenes?

Philip Summers: Lucas Thomas from Nintendo Force Magazine/NF Publishing was a fan of the original Hand-Drawn Game Guides campaign and basically remembered me all these years later! He has been expanding into book publishing and wanted to work on a property officially. With some work he was able to get the license from Capcom to create Mega Man books and asked if I would be willing to resurrect the Hand-Drawn Game Guides concept and do it legit this time. We still needed to pitch the book to them for approval, so we created a sequence of pages to present. They liked what they saw and we were able to move ahead from there.

There’s a long history of game books running into legal issues with copyright holders. Do you have any advice for others looking to do similar projects?

Unfortunately I don’t have any real advice on how to go about jumping through some of these loopholes. In the years since my original campaign shut down, I’ve come to find that different companies respond to different types of projects and they all have their own reasons. What I can tell you is that if you plan on launching something like a Kickstarter where your funding totals are public and the project heavily features IP that you don’t have the rights to, it’s highly likely it will get shut down.

In the Mega Man Kickstarter campaign, you mentioned the possibility of doing more Mega Man books after this one. What’s the status of that?

At this point it’s too early to tell. I think we’ll have a much better understanding of where we stand once the book is completed and shipped. Assuming people are happy with it, and Capcom is happy with it, I think it’s fair to say we’ll be able to move onto the next one, which the obvious choice is Mega Man 2. Though I really love Mega Man X too!

Long-term, what are your plans for Hand-Drawn Game Guides? Is the idea to get official licenses for other games and make this a regular thing?

For sure! I have a whole list of games I’d love to work on, and if we end up putting out a great product we’re hopeful more companies will be receptive to letting us give one of their classic games the Hand-Drawn Game Guides treatment. This is a side gig for me, so I can only work so quickly, but who knows maybe that could change one day too.

Hundreds of years later, azulejos remain an integral part of Portuguese architecture, lining churches, restaurants, and even the subway system.

See our Azul review

The board game is rooted in this historic tale, as players are tasked with the challenge of embellishing the walls of the Royal Palace of Évora. The goal of the game is fairly straightforward — fill your playboard with tiles to score points, and win by having the most points at the end of the game.

The game begins with players receiving a play board along with a unique grid of patterned tiles. A variable amount of circular boards are then placed in the center of the table (depending on the amount of players you have), which the game refers to as "factories." Players take turns snagging all tiles of one color from a factory in the hopes of filling up a full row on their play boards. The tiles that remain are discarded into the center of the table, which players can also grab from if they see tiles of a specific color that they need.

Once all the tiles have been taken, players see how many of the rows on their playboard are full, and are allowed to take one tile from it and transfer it to the same row on their unique grid. Points are scored depending on how well you do so — additional points are earned for achieving specific patterns, and points are deducted for wasted tiles. Final scores are tallied once one player has completed a whole row of tiles on their grid, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

With a total playtime of around 30-45 minutes, it's a great game that's relatively fast-paced and ends up using a whole lot of strategy. Every time a player picks up tiles of a certain color, they're limiting the supplies available to all other players, which makes things start to get messy. Or, maybe you discard a bunch of tiles into the center of the table, making it so there's now too many of a specific color for a player to fit on their own board (which can only fit a maximum of five of one color).

It sounds far more complicated than it is, but believe us that this game becomes second nature after a couple rounds. It's intended for 2-4 players, and it made IGN's list for family board games and one of the best board games to play with three people. Azul scored an 8 among our review team, who revered this game for its quality pieces, beautiful design and well-balanced gameplay.

Grab Azul now for holiday game nights at what will likely be the lowest price you'll see this year.
