Summoners first appeared in Final Fantasy III as powerful sorcerers who could bring forth powerful magical beings into battle. Known as summons, these beings often deal tremendous amounts of damage to enemies, while many others grant powerful perks to the player’s party. Summoners have remained largely the same over the years, but the individual summons have enjoyed various upgrades, evolutions, and changes from game to game.
