Zack Snyder is a somewhat contentious director, namely due to his creating the DC Extended Universe. Starting with Snyder's Man of Steel, this controversial collection of movies based on DC Comics superheroes had several die-hard fans and just as many detractors. Thankfully, his newest movie is avoiding some of those films' criticisms by standing entirely on its own.
