Back in the 2000s, Nickelodeon's animated TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender became a fan-favorite action/fantasy series. It was a brand-new franchise set in an Asian-inspired world of elemental bending, spirits, and monsters, telling a fantastic tale of war and redemption across three seasons. Then, director M. Night Shyamalan released a widely criticized live-action movie based on the show's first season, convincing fans that a live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender was a bad idea.
