How to Train Your Dragon is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. With the new live-action version of the movie hitting theaters later this month, I'm unsure how to feel about yet another animated movie from my youth getting the reboot treatment. That being said, I am very glad that the new movie is the cause of the very first LEGO How to Train Your Dragon set.
Toothless, the Night Fury himself, is about to be immortalized in LEGO bricks. The new How to Train Your Dragon set is set to release on July 1, 2025 and is meant for adult builders specifically. At 784 pieces, LEGO Toothless is a mid-range build with a mid-range price tag of $69.99. It's currently available to preorder at the LEGO store right now ahead of its release date.

The most surprising thing about this set is how many pieces go into it. At first glance it looks like it would be really small, but it actually sets over 6.5-inches once its full built. With 784 pieces, it's likely a lot more complex of a build than you'd think just looking at the images. All of these pieces likely contribute to the posable nature of the set. Once its built you can pose the head, jaw, wings, and tail to set it in whatever position you wish to display. It also comes with a fish and a plasma-blast attachment so you can choose whether to have something coming out of his mouth or not and have options available.
The design looks very similar to how Toothless looked in the original animated film, and they've made him look pretty much the same in the live-action version. He's got those big green eyes, and is set in a dog-like sitting pose that makes him seem very approachable. His missing tail fin is fitted with the design featured at the end of the movie, rather than the initial leather version that Hiccup made to help him fly.

This newly announced set may be enticing to fans of How to Train Your Dragon, but it doesn't come out until July. If you're looking for new sets that were just released in June, there are actually a lot of options to choose from. There are some LEGO book nooks that are very popular so far as well as the first LEGO Simpsons set we've seen in over seven years.
