It seems the King of the North is exhausted from his time in Westeros. Actor Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in HBO's Game of Thrones, recently revealed that he is not planning to watch the prequel series.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Harington explained that he just can't watch House of the Dragon, the prequel series set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Harington also admitted that he does not think he will even watch Game of Thrones again "for a few years," citing that time on the show as a reason for not feeling compelled to watch the Game of Thrones prequel or indulge in a rewatch of the show he starred in for 8 years.
"I just can't watch it," Harington told the Associated Press. "I think for me, it's just I've spent too long there. And I wish them all the best. I hear it's wonderful and going really well. But I don't think I'll ever watch that show, and I don't think I'll watch 'Game of Thrones' again for a few years."
Harington played Jon Snow for all eight seasons of Game of Thrones, which ran on the air from 2011 until 2019. Though series creator George R.R. Martin announced in June 2022 that a spinoff sequel series focusing on Jon Snow's character was in development, Harington revealed in an interview with Screen Rant last April that the spinoff show focusing on his character was "on the shelf" at this time.
Harington is not the only Game of Thrones star who has publicly admitted that they will not watch House of the Dragon. Speaking to Variety in January 2023, actor Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, admitted that she does not watch series either, explaining to the publication that watching the prequel felt more like attending a school reunion.
House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022 and has become a popular series on HBO, much like its predecessor before it. The second season premiered last month, with the series renewed for a third season just ahead of the second season airing. Earlier this week, House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that the series will end after a fourth season.
