Paradisan ladder is an upgrade material that allows you to improve your weapons and armor in Avowed.
Paradisan ladder is needed to upgrade any of your Common items to higher tiers, so you’ll need a lot of it. The only problem is, scavenging for the plant can take an extremely long time as they’re scattered across Dawnshore and they take a long time to respawn.
To help cut down your search time, here are a few ways to get Paradisan ladder in Avowed.
How to get Paradisan ladder in Avowed
Paradisan ladder can be picked in the wilderness, looted off of enemies, and found in chests, but it can be quite time consuming to get Paradisan ladder with these methods. Instead, there are a few guaranteed ways to get some Paradisan ladder:
- Buying it from merchants
- Breaking down upgraded weapons and armor
- Downgrading Hylea’s talon
Let’s go over all of these ways to get Paradisian ladder.
Buying from merchants
Paradisan ladder can be purchased from Merylin’s shop, Might Through Magic, in Paradis. Head to the market district in Paradis, which can be seen in the image above, and interact with Merylin to purchase Paradisan ladder for 150 gold each.
You can also buy Hylea’s talon from merchants in Emerald Stair, the second zone, and downgrade it to get more Paradisan ladder, but we’ll touch on that in a later section.
Breaking down upgraded weapons and armor
If you have upgraded Common weapons and armor that you don’t want anymore, you can break them down to recollect the Paradisan ladder you used during the upgrade process. Keep in mind, this will only work for upgraded Common items. If you break down an upgraded Fine item, it’ll instead give you Hylea’s talon, but that can also be turned into Paradisan ladder.

Downgrading Hylea’s talon
At the workbench in your party camp, you can downgrade materials to their lower quality tier versions. For example, Hylea’s talon is a material used to upgrade fine items, but it can be downgraded into three Parasidan ladders.
To downgrade materials, follow the steps below:
- Interact with the workbench and select the “Crafting” tab at the top of the screen.
- Select the mortar and pestle icon to open the “Downgrade” menu.
- Choose the “Break Down Hylea’s Talon” option and press the “Craft” button in the bottom right.
- Choose the amount of Hylea’s talon to break down and collect your Paradisan ladder.
You might not run into any Hylea’s talon on your journey through Dawnshore, but in the off chance you do, you’ll have a small supply of Paradisan ladder waiting for you at your camp.
