As fans of Nathan W. Pyle's web-based comic of the same name already know, Apple TV+'s Strange Planet differs from typical sitcoms, animated or otherwise. Where most of its contemporaries work off of innuendos, sight gags or over-the-top gestures to create humor, the show relies heavily on wordplay and the subversion of it. Consequently, Strange Planet and its characters engage with each other and its audience in the frankest, most literal sense. This supplants expectations of what comedy can be by explaining each minute detail and thought in technical terminology.
