In a new post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Keighley confirmed the date and noted that he would share more info, including public ticket information, sometime this fall. Like last year, the show will stream live from the Peacock Theater (formerly Microsoft Theater) in Los Angeles, with streams available on YouTube and Twitch.
As Keighley points out, The Game Awards turns ten this year. In June, a special live concert was held to celebrate the milestone. The Game Awards has always been held sometime in December, honoring achievements made in the games industry that year. While awards, including Game of the Year, are presented, The Game Awards has also been known to premiere new unannounced projects and provide another opportunity for developers and publishers to share details on existing games before the new year strikes.
Last year at The Game Awards, Sony Santa Monica's God of War Ragnarok won the most awards (winning six out of the 11 nominations it received), while FromSoftware's action RPG Elden Ring won Game of the Year. Some notable new game announcements from last year's show include the reveal of Death Stranding 2 and Hades 2.
