Warning: The below contains major spoilers for Ahsoka Season 1, which is part of the Disney+ streaming library. You can read IGN's full season review right here.
A brand new piece of Ahsoka Season 2 concept art has sparked several wild theories, predictions, and questions about the next chapter of Dave Filoni's Disney+ Star Wars series.
The official X/Twitter account for the saga shared the image shortly after the announcement that Filoni is developing a second season of Ahsoka. The sketch shows Ahsoka and Sabine standing on the outstretched finger of the Father statue, a Mortis God representing the balance between the light and dark side of the Force.

The illustration is significant because fans last saw the Force-wielding mercenary Baylan Skoll situated atop the giant stony statue of the Mortis Father in the Ahsoka Season 1 finale, leading some viewers to speculate about the character's ending and whether there could be a further exploration of his story in a future installment.
The new teaser has triggered these discussions again, with many people believing that Filoni's drawing for Season 2 points in one direction for the plot as it looks as if Ahsoka and Sabine will follow Baylan's trail and find out more about his journey, which became one of the most talked-about subjects in the first season.
I see where they are going. On the scent to see where Baylan Skoll has headed to... The light ✨ https://t.co/q8qhiSRYq5 pic.twitter.com/uTBcV99FOn

Oh alright they’re following Baylan’s path! https://t.co/jHlf1yAw6l

Yeah, it would be crazy to use that art unless they are following up on Baylan's journey.

They could have kicked the can down the road but people want to see it and it's an extremely interesting story thread.
Yesss this is the exact detail that got me hyped. Baylan needs to be at the center of all of this and by the art that looks to be the plan

I love that this is the first image shared about the season because I'm fascinated with whatever the hell Baylon was going on about. https://t.co/E0ThKdLukf

The scene with Baylan at the Mortis God statues marked Ray Stevenson's final performance after the actor tragically passed away last year, leaving the character's future uncertain. Some people believe recasting the role is the most respectful way forward, while others think there could be an alternative to keep the character going.
"So Ahsoka and Sabine are following Baylans footsteps? Man, whoever they cast to play him has giant shoes to fill, but it has to happen he's clearly too important to this story to just cut," one person wrote on Reddit. "I think there's a possibility to recast him as older and/or younger though, given the unique connection to the Force Mortis," another Reddit user chimed in to the discussion.
"I think something better would be using old footage, and then something happen that disfigured him letting someone else play him," a third person suggested, while someone else tacked on to that thought by saying he could "wear a breathing apparatus/mask to hide who he is and change the voice" of the character.
A few people raised questions about how some of the other characters will factor into the plot, pondering whether we will also "get more Ezra, Hera, Jacen, Mon Mothma and Thrawn in the GFFA as a B-plot, or won't we see any more of them until either the Mando & Grogu movie or the big cinematic conclusion to the Mandoverse?"
There was also a lot of other predictions and hopes shared for the upcoming season of Ahsoka. Those suggestions included bringing the Mortis Gods to live-action, Shin joining Ahsoka and Sabine, and more appearances from Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker, especially after the emotional ending of the first season.
Live action Mortis gods, Anakin force ghost, Shin and Baylon stories continue. And more Ahsoka and Sabine. Not to mention Hera and Ezra.

I would like to see Shin join Ahsoka and Sabine

More Anakin but as a force ghost fully communicating with Ahsoka would be LIT. As long as he isn’t too overused, him reassuring Ahsoka and providing wisdom would be awesome, also I think it be great to see an emotional discussion about Vader/Order 66, and a brief mention of Luke

Mortis gods, more Anakin, Zeb, Rebels crew all together

I would think that the World Between Worlds would be the Key for Ahsoka & Sabine to return to they're Galaxy!

Also I think it be great if Ahsoka goes to Vader's Castle and reclaim her old Lighsaber that she left behind at the end of Clone Wars!

- Ezra revisits his old home on Lothal.
- Thrawn settles on Dathomir and gathers all of the Imperial Remnants.
- Anakin and Kanan appear in Mortis.

While there was heavy speculation that a second season of Ahsoka would be on the way, especially given Filoni's recent promotion within Lucasfilm, Disney only recently confirmed another installment, dropping the news alongside the surprise announcement of Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars movie The Mandalorian & Grogu.
