Scrapped Star Wars writer Damon Lindelof is taking part in the writers' strike and said "picketing Disney is a lot more fun than writing a Star Wars movie".

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Lost co-creator seemingly feels satisfied at the chance to stand against the likes of Disney as part of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike and alongside the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

Lindelof said: "99 days of steps under my belt and I don’t know if there’s any end in sight, but I’m feeling good, strong, convinced, and unified. Justin [Britt-Gibson] and I wrote a Star Wars movie together and picketing Disney is a lot more fun than writing a Star Wars movie."

"Justin [Britt-Gibson] and I wrote a Star Wars movie together and picketing Disney is a lot more fun than writing a Star Wars movie.

He and Britt-Gibson first emerged as writers of a post-Star Wars: Episode 9 - Rise of Skywalker film in October 2022, with Ms. Marvel lead Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy pegged to direct. These hopes were soon dashed though as both writers were dropped in March, and the film was fully revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2023 with Obaid-Chinoy directing and Daisy Ridley starring.

Britt-Gibson joined his former co-writer in taking satisfaction at the chance to picket Disney. Making a joke at the expense of Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back, he said: "This will be done so we have a better future for writers, for actors, for everybody out here on the line. Strike the Empire back."

Though Disney is yet to say anything official regarding the duo's scrapping (and likely never will), Lindelof said in April he was asked to leave by the studio. "I was in more than talks to join the Star Wars universe," he said. "I joined the Star Wars universe and was asked to leave."

Little else is known about the film, or whether any of Lindelof and Britt-Gibson's material will be used, but Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said it is "pretty far along in development". Details are slim on the plot too, but it will take place 15 years after the events of the final Skywalker Saga film as Rey looks to rebuild the Jedi Order.
