Pokémon Go’s “Scattered to the Winds” event is all about giving gifts and … bugs that turn into butterflies and also birds. The event runs from Feb. 18-20, making it a short event, so make sure to take advantage of its bonuses while they’re active.

Notably, the event is being used to promote Scatterbug and Vivillon, which had their shiny forms added to the game. The event allows you to open up to 40 gifts per day (60 gifts, if you bought the “Eggs-pedition Access: February ticket) and increased XP for spinning PokéStops (to collect gifts, of course).

This event features a paid Timed Research set for $5.

Is the “Scattered to the Winds” paid Timed Research worth it? Meh, this is really only worth it if you want the “Pen Pal Pose” cosmetic items. Poses are usually 500 coins each (which is $5 worth in the game’s shop), so… if you don’t care for the pose, you’re probably better off just buying the Incense and Star Piece rewards straight-up (or waiting on a thrifty bundle).

As usual with Timed Research, you need to complete it before the event ends on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in your local time to get all the rewards. We list the steps below.

• Catch a Caterpie
• Evolve a Caterpie into a Metapod
• Evolve a Metapod into a Butterfree

Rewards: 5,000 XP, 2,500 Stardust, Scyther encounter

Spinning a PokéStop during the event period may yield one of these tasks:

• Explore 2 km (1 Rare Candy)
• Send 3 gifts and add a sticker to each (Pidgey encounter)
• Send a gift with a sticker (Pidgey or Wurmple encounter)
• Spin 5 PokéStops or gyms (Caterpie, Pidgey, or Starly encounter)
