After more than a year of near-total absence, save for a rogue Echoes of Wisdom listing, Amazon US has finally begun selling Nintendo-published Switch games directly again.
The move breaks a long-running freeze-out that saw Amazon skip all “sold and shipped by Amazon” listings for Switch 2 titles, ignore preorders entirely, and leave everything to third-party sellers.
Even after the Switch 2 was announced earlier in 2025, Amazon stayed silent while Walmart and Best Buy eventually opened their preorder pages post-Nintendo's Switch 2-focused Direct, even amid some delays. This sudden shift could mark the end of the unexplained standoff, and might even signal that a full console stock allocation is finally on the way.
Until now, only third-party titles like Sonic x Shadow: Generations were available to order directly from Amazon US. First-party launch games such as Mario Kart World and the Switch 2 editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were noticeably missing. That’s now changed.
While all of these are currently listed as “Temporarily Out of Stock,” Amazon is still accepting orders, suggesting availability updates are on the way soon.
So what about the console in general? Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are currently sold out at every major retailer. While launch day stock was solid, helping the console shift over 3.5 million units in just four days worldwide, it's been tough to come by ever since.
Previously, the Amazon listing for the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle was cluttered with questionable third-party sellers. Those listings have now been removed, replaced with a simple “Currently unavailable” notice. With Amazon once again offering first-party Switch 2 games, it’s worth keeping a close eye on that page; stock updates for the console itself could follow soon.
