Marvel actor Jonathan Majors' domestic violence trial was due to begin today, August 3, but has instead been delayed to September 6.
As reported by Variety, Majors appeared in court before the prosecution said it wasn't ready yet as it was still obtaining discovery. Majors' lawyer Priya Chaudhry alleged the prosecutors weren't "timely" in turning over evidence.
In a statement released to IGN, Chaudhry said: "131 days ago, authorities unjustly cuffed Jonathan Majors in his own home, hauling him off to jail based on the word of a woman now hunted by the [New York Police Department].
"Bravely, Jonathan Majors laid bare to the NYPD the relentless, alcohol-fuelled abuse he suffered at the hands of Grace Jabbari, an enduring nightmare in their relationship. Now, as soon as Jabbari sets foot back in New York, the NYPD stands ready to arrest her.
"For an excruciating four months, Jonathan Majors, the real victim in this shameful ordeal, has had his life, career, and reputation torn apart. Yet he remains unwavering in his determination to be absolved from this harrowing ordeal."
Majors was arrested on March 25 under charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment after a domestic dispute. The NYPD told IGN at the time the victim suffered minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to hospital in a stable condition. He was dropped from his talent manager Entertainment 360 and PR firm The Lede Company in April.
